Guns . . . and Roses . . .

Wasn't sure where to post this . . . but thought we needed a thread . . .

First of all . . . roses . . .

Bright red roses . . . for those mourning and grieving a personal loss in the tragedy in New Brunswick.

Roses . . . for the RCMP community . . . and their grief and sadness in loss of their own.

Roses . . . for the city of Moncton, the province of New Brunswick and those with ties to them, in their loss and situation.

Roses . . . for our society and our country - mourning . . . mourning tragedy, loss, death . . . and the fear, vulnerability, and shakenness that comes with this recent tragedy.

For the guns part . . . well, what can one say . . . guns are not the only means of murder, death, tragedy, loss . . . but they were in this case.  And a man armed with weapons is still walking around somewhere.

And for this man, and those that knew and loved him - roses for their grief, pain, and loss too.

How is everyone doing in all this?

Troubled people in troubling times.  We get so accustomed to seeing and hearing this in the United States, but then it happens in our own backyard.

My prayers and condolences for the families of the victims, and the 2 wounded officers.

No mention is made of the family of the shooter.   Hopefully the situation is resolved without more loss of life.

Not sure what I am feeling other than a tremendous sadness for all concerned.

Very sad for all. The shooter was young. Had his whole life ahead of him too. I'm left wondering how youth are feeling about the world today...with all that's going on in it, there's not much happy news, a lot violence, disasters. Do they feel scared, let down, not heard? What can we do to try pave the way for a truly more hopeful future for them? To help them have real hope and prevent this?

While we're here we need to be leaving youth a world that has meaning and substance and nurturing and non-violence. And no guns, and no wars, and no gratuitous violence, and meaningful purpose.

also, there has been a song rattling around me HEED around this event

'sweet child o mine' by guns n' roses

the movie that i've got spilling aboot is ''no country for old men', particularly the main character, chiurgh

i've been noodling over such things like intentional homicide rates...PEI is the place to be with 0 per 100,000 people...Ontario had 1.20 per 100,000 in 2012...BC had 1.54...the scariest places are NWT & Nunavut @ 11.53 & 14.84 respectively...

in the Ewe Ess Eh, the country with the lowest rate is...Guam .6 in 2007...Wyoming is pretty good at 1.4 in 2010...New Hampshire (with their motto 'live free or die') is 1.0 in 2010...my two favourite countries in the USA warshington and oregahn  2.3 & 2.5 in 2010 respectively...but District of Columbia & Puerto Rico are the worst at 21.8 & 26.22 in 2010 respectively

so some provinces are more deadly than some of the states in the USA...

Shock, dismay, and overwhelming sadness.  How can this be happening?  What is wrong with our world?   We aren't fanatics, or are we?

Sorry, sorry, sorry.

I live a bit over an hour away from Moncton.  I am not frightened for my personal safety, or that of my family - but oh, it's sad!

Suspect is in custody.  Residents of Moncton can rest a bit easier today.  This particular element of fear is gone for them.  Weeks, days, months, years ahead of grieving and healing.  Lives have been changed forever in seconds.

He surrendered.  "It's over."   No shots fired.   Now the long process through the courts and mental health system - and hopefully the healing begins for all involved.  Prayers are offered - thanksgiving, compassion, concern, reconciliation.

Yet along we go believing free wile is the power to have ... withoutout a clue as to consequence or effect on the entire conscience ... thus the greater unknown!

You know how many people don't believe in mind, thinking or an intelligent psychee that has to be right out of 'ere as nothing here apparantly makes sense!

I believe in escapism ... although it may be an abstract as compared to those that are absolute about their wiles ... and thus a prick in the pall 've Romanism ... the urge to control what isn't your's to control in the first place.

This is often not known as avarice ... sometime eve ere Isis as kohl in the higher ranges ... a'mire icon of something entirely other? Such brutality does something to a balanced person ... and they too realize they are bleeding due to such urge to destroy ... no outside idealism required ... it is completely in the power of mortal! Especially those that can't get beyond themselves and into how others intellectualize this ... then of course did they really care about anything other?

You wish to see strange step a bit beyond and look at humanity ... some call this an OBI and don't believe you can do such things ... alas it is your manifest destiny, all else being left behind! How's that for a remnent of thought?

indeed -- it is because Canadians are allowed to do as they please -- free will -- that led to this tragedy.  We should really have something like a Monarchy or Benevolent Dictatorship, with everyone tested and then put in their place for a greater and safer Canada.

(of course, there is that niggling part of me that hopes that this murder spree wasn't some sort of false flag event...i'm glad i don't take myself too seriously)

WaterBuoy's picture

WaterBuoy

Take thineself too seriously?

Not me ... considering the role models of power we have setting examples and the bible says one should not think of the juiced (ju'çed) with wealth and power, as power corrupts, thus thoughts of evil are burried, denied and not thought of in a critter of total free-wiles.

Then there is the other side of the myth ... those that think small ... the wee peoples ... those that the powerful would like to be eliminated as that still, silent voice ... buried and ineffable! I cannot take life seriously when I see what powerful mortals have done to the Golden Rule ... and yet say they believe in it!

When seen from a Borderline Personality that's sort of "out-there" as a fringe person could we call that outlander (outlandish) thinking? It would take a time machine to get over that hump---HG Wells!

But who'd read that sort of iteration ... that goes on and on as a sensed echo ... egoin another linguistic tradition ... and God said one should know words of all men ... but one-liners make a joke of that ... leaving me as the trickstir in the pot ... and the clowns keep coming ... believing the "other" is something to be put down in a competitive theology. Believe in God ... yes god is life and love and wisdom ... something that seems to be off on a pilgrimage just now ... looking for the abstract ... sort of a reflection like An/nA an ancient anagram ... but who'd know that ... especially if you altered the spelling a bit to assist their desire in not knowing ethical varients!

They are a funny thing ... can be deontological or teleological in the moral pool that is corrupted with great power and can't control IÐ's elph ...

Might as well ramble on as to try and speak of LOGOS or a logical idealism ... when people would love to do something different for a moment of fame ... hate appears to gather attention ... with severe consequence ... as a reaction of greater conscience? It is a greater thing than the mortal version ... perhaps why the ju'çid can't see it. Did you know the word juda'n came from an old word meaning power? It is different from Hebrew which is a denied hen scratching according to an authoritative line of noble people ... that may no be so noble if you examine their history. Perhaps why many authorities tell us to live in the instant ... and can't get an idea across time ... that's love for yah ... some say it is the only thing that can reach across time (perhaps a misnomer, or poorly understood teaching by the rich and powerful)!

WaterBuoy's picture

Then who fathered time? Isn't that a devilsh thing to say to a person who is absolute about everything? Yet, to me love, appears to be a mostly abstract versevocation ... just something incomplete as yet ... defining and infinite iteration! And so it goes'ð ... corporeally ... as a single line Eire! Small satyr?

Yes. Don't give them the satisfaction. Infamy is a motivator for some - don't let them have it.

so, heard bagpipes bleating from my walk in the woods

intrigued, thinking of Mike Son of Peter, i walked until i saw a poutine of RCMP in full red serge & hat regalia parading down the RCMP centre

made me nostalgic 4 the old 50 dollar bill

police EVERYWHERE.  an armoured carrier.  police on the rooftops (snipers?). some police in full battle armour with some kind of scoped rifles (so boringly black...)

the ceremony ended up in the RCMP parking lot

public EVERYWHERE, taking pictures

the RCMP road blocked off by police cars

i saw global tv there

i saw a very petite RCMP whom i complemented on her hat -- she looked like a teenager in it

in the forest, the salmonberries & gay salmon beckon

Please read the links below  about the family of the murderer.

God give the family  strength, faith, and  courage in the days ahead. It appears that Justin was mentally ill for some time prior to when he snapped, obsessed with guns and violence.

I don't know what to say to Justin? I want to say....."God have mercy" ...if that's alright?

He came from a beautiful family:

The family had sought help for him:

From Justin's dad  ( in the link above):

Quote:

"Bourque said he assumed people would judge his family for having home schooled their children, and said such criticism came from a “place of ignorance” although he didn’t want to judge.

But he said society in general needs to reassess “where we’re going in life and respect it from beginning to end.”

Allowing abortions and euthanasia are just ways to avoid things that have become inconveniences in life, he said, citing from St. Paul in the Bible, who says we have to look after our weaker brethren.

“They can point the finger at our son but we all have to look at ourselves,” he said, his voice becoming more forceful. “The evils that exist in society do have an influence and we need to take stock to heal as a community.”

We are all responsible by supporting certain violent and sexually explicit movies, television shows and video games that don’t respect life, Bourque said. “These affect minds that are already vulnerable. (Justin) was a gentle person so for somebody to snap like this, there had to be something.”

Last month, the couple posted a quotation on their Facebook page that may have been indicative of the turmoil the family was going through in the months leading up to the shooting.

It reads, Sometimes you have to stop worrying, wondering and doubting. Have faith that things will work out, maybe not how you planned, but just how it’s meant to be.

“You hope for the best for your children,” Bourque said. “I hope he gets the help he needs to renew his life.”

and innocent until proven guilty :3

"Innocent until proven guilty"--- a weird figment of human communion? The judging usually begins quickly, and emotionally!

Guilty of being what? Human! Such is to err ... to even be in the human arena ... when you see the human state of affairs ...

It isn't pretty! Ever wonder if there is another side to the theme that appears tragi-comedic if it weren't so sad? But there is an old Maxim that if you don't think about it ... things will go on conserved as they were ... and when you change you get into the surroundings where thought, psyche things, and intellect surrounds us ... but humans that wish not to be cognizent will find that 'eLLe and in that is the (de) Light or Levite function that's huge ... as hinted at by leviathan ...

When we lok at history is there a huge pile of errs to observe? Not if you live in the present only ... sometimes providing an Eire of presence that appears in word alone! "What's in word?" Shakespeare was asked ... everything was the response ... but in some traditions God is everything! Odd metaphor to revere ... right ... or is it good to know such spectre of allegory?

Church foundations say it is good for the common people not to know ... and value was placed on the missing talent. Did you know wisdom once had a golden character, and thanks to Roman brutishness ... we've lost that too ... and so it goes ... some believe they should assist the mortal God and help the weaker (thinkers) along! As they don't react sharply enough ... allowing for the slow response in emotional output ...

Now mediums in the balance ... it is generally believed sloe thinging jinns of intellect are really bad ... and this stumps even the tree of LOGOS, or logic as we know it; a wise idealism that collects across two alien field theories: Kare'n Thought ... and thus chi was out of here ... gone! This defines manifestation (something that makes manifest the presence or exoistence of something else). This would fit right in with the presence of the talent of thought in an emotional field ... a really weird thing in all that's out there ... a complex thing to ponder in your imaginary manifestation if you can grasp that which doesn't generally exist here ... intelligence about anything in a world of emotional decision making!

It is something to investigate if you have the profound power of curiosity ...
