It's the modern day equivalent of the NT commandment to forge swords into plow shares and spears into pruning hooks.
When I was young and apprenticing as a blacksmith, we went the other way. My brother and I forged a sword from a discarded slat of a cylinder of a threshing machine. But we used the sword only for chopping wood.
