I found this both interesting and confusing. The concept seems ok to me - symbolic stuff is always around for us to utilise. Personally I'd be more inclined to walk a labyrinth, especially one that was created with no expense or environmental degradation. So, what do you think?
I have several thoughts that I suspect reflect more modern thinking than the traditional RC church. I wonder about the expense and whether the money would have been better spent on supporting the people who have been abused by the church? I wonder whether those who are RC church 'insiders' have any clue how uninterested most younger people are in religion and religion fueled piety? I wonder what the point is of the whole thing - over and above tourist dollars.

I once opened the door to a long-abandoned party room in a run-down apartment that had probably been closed for more than 25 years, based on the trash left behind, to no ceremony whatsoever. I feel cheated.

If the door to perception were opened, everything would appear as is: infinite.

That's what I was thinking Arm, what a bunch of symbolic pomp and ceremony. If they want to open a door then open the real door to awareness. It'll be only door that saves us in the end.

It just sounds like church to me - lots of posturing, manipulating and artificial 'holiness' instead of recognising the real.

Common folk (pagans) are not supposed to know real or other-wise ....
Could be a threat to the powers! This is all about the struggle for confinement and oppression!
Is that like spiritual slavery? Something we have to pas ... after pounding san and particulates into open spaces! Then down the pipes it goes according to Jesus who is reputed to have said consume, test all things ... unless you know better by previous experience that you can depend upon.

Some depth of understanding of metaphor, allegory and satyr is prerequisite for picking out the shrapnel, shatter and points ... this can dispose of the humur bloody awful like in medical efforts to repair to effects of war on the general population ... a clear MASH of disposed thoughts ...
