Pray For God

I know that people pray to God but are there some who pray for God?

He carries a large load.

I would like to amend that to say not " he" but God carries a large load.

If you were praying for God, who would you pray to?

Stardust just started a Len Cohen Church thread.

In his Song: "Goodbye Marianne" Leonard Cohen sings:

If we forget to pray for the angels,

Then the angels forget to pray for us.

So maybe the Principle of Reciprocity is at work here: If God and the angels are to keep us in their minds, then we have to keep them in our minds.

Interesting. Both Arminius and efficient cause give food for thought.

Is "keeping in our minds" the same as praying?   There are people I keep in my mind, but I don't think I'm actually praying for them.  I keep God in my mind a lot, but I'm not sure that means I'm praying for God.  Or, is what we think in our minds actually prayer?

Yes, Beloved, I think so.

Prayer is just a more focused way of "keeping in mind."

Unless, of course, one regards prayer as a petition. Do we really need to petition God to look out for God?

Or do we need to petition God to get rid of God?

The medieval mystic, Meister Eckhart, once said: "I pray to God to rid me of God."

Only he and God know what he meant by that.

I like Match3frog answer.-- I some times ask my wife if i can help at supper she will most often say yes stay out of my way. I would say my prayer, Would be . THY KINGDOM COME.  THY WILL BE DONE.

Why can't little kind thoughts of caring be little prayers that we send like.....  ummmmm text messsages. Prayers don't have to be formal petitions, do they?

To me, I guess it's important for me to figure out, determine, or get my mind around what God thinks prayer is . . . cause that is to whom I am praying.  So, if God thinks that little kind thoughts of caring are prayers, then they are.  Now . . . seeing as how we can all guess as to what God thinks and probably have differing thoughts on that, I just need to figure out what God thinks for myself.

Hey, God . . .
