Scam Notification

Make sure you read Wolfie's SCAM notice in "Social".

Several of us have received WonderMail from a "poor little rich girl" in Africa who needs a place to send her dead father's $10,000,000

I'm just hurt because now I have to split the 20% ($200,000) with Wolfie.

Anyone else I have to share this with?

It is interesting that "aishamel" joined WonderCafe at 2:39 pm on Nov. 13th and sent his/her messages 5 seconds later.

Make sure you know where the Delete button is.

This type of scam is generally called a Nigerian 419 scam letter b/c a lot of these originated in Nigeria and now they come from around the world.  I get them on my Yahoo account quite  a bit.  I gave up reporting these because new one keep coming.  I delete them right away.  If you receive them with your email, some may contain viruses (I opened one and got a trojan virus that I had to download a program to fix it.)  If it sounds too good to be true, IT IS!

Does this person not need a WC membership in order to send Wondermail? If that is so, WHO is the culprit? Can the moderator track them down if this is the case?

JamesK, I know jealousy when i see it. Obviously, the beautiful, rich and sex starved young girl had seen my picture on one of my posts, just as you see it now, and was consumed by a desire to meet me. You will be sorry to  here that your clumsy attempt to interfere with my happiness has come too late. I have already sent her my bank account numbers so that she can place her ten million in my safe keeping, and my credit card numbers to help with any small expenses she might encounter. She has been kind enough to write back to me that i am the most wonderful man she has ever met. So that proves it. eat your heart out.

No one else finds the title "scam notification" in the religious topics ironic?

Haha. That is actually kind of funny. Or maybe I'm just really tired....

A person who teaches in a university suggests he is critical of scams?

Damn it. I had high hopes of living in luxury and being eternally worshipped. Guess I am going to have to replace my wimpy candle picture with one that shows my long golden locks and bulging muscles.

But you beat me fair and square. I concede

I just got a Wondermail from this "African princess", too.

I got one from her on my regular e-mail. I was trying to e-mail the admin. for Wondercafe to explain that I couldn't get or receive any Wondermails. I got no response in two weeks, which seemed unusual. Then I got an e-mail saying that I got Wondermail, and I thought "Hurray! Admin. sent me a Wondermail explaining what I was doing wrong!" But it was the scam message. My original message that was sent from a hotmail account (not a Wondermail) was somehow hijacked, I guess.

Can anyone help me with Wondermail, please?

Whenever I try to send one, I get no fields to type in anything. For example, I click on "Wondermail," and then I click on "Compose" at the top of the page. Then the fields come up to type the name and message, but then the fields disappear in approx. 3 seconds. The top of the screen says "Compose," "inbox," "delete," etc, but the rest of the screen is blank. There is no "send, save, preview, whatever" anywhere at the bottom. If I press keys on the keyboard, nothing happens. Am I missing something? Is there a special trick to it?

James L. So, you have bulging muscles. Aha. That's your problem. No wonder you're alone and an object of pitry and scorn. Rich and young women from exotic lands find those bulges ugly. Try to be more vivacious and charming. Like me.

Or marry a leftover Presbyterian.

oh, so that's the problem. Still, I am disgusted. nobody should leave even a presbyterian wife to pursue an exotic young beauty with ten million dollars.

well, maybe... let me think about it.

I had a similar email with the usual yada yada.  I told them I belonged to a strict, winged-out, religious group that only helped their own.  When they asked if they could join, I told them they had to cut out their tongues and send them to me as proof.  I never heard from them again.
