I'd like to use this forum to praise Jesus and praise God.
My testimony in Christ is this:
After spending years dabbling and exploring the New Age and occult world, searching for answers about myself and hidden secrets about the universe and why we are here, God was patient with me. Like the patient Father He is, I did whatever I wanted to do with my free will, like we all have.
I was chasing something and was left feeling tired and unsatisfied. No matter how much meditation I did or Eckhart Tolle I read, my soul was lost. I was so "into" all that stuff too. I wanted the peace, the joy, the personal power, the answers...but just couldn't attain them.
Then, one day, God came to get me, like the Shepherd He is. He knew I'd had enough and I was ready to accept Him. He showed me scripture that says; "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one gets to the Father except by Me."
Everything changed that day. I became a born again Christian and thanked God for guiding me back to Him and being so forgiving and patient with me.
Now, a little while later, I can look back at my former spiritual path. I was such a fool! I was chasing a counterfeit peace, a counterfeit joy, a counterfeit wisdom. Why on earth would I want that when I can have the real thing in my Lord Jesus Christ?
Thanks be to God.

THank you for sharing this. IT is a story far different from my own, having been brought up in the church. ANd it leads you to a much different theology than my own. But of course that is for you. Your testimony is welcomed here.
The challenge you may find on this site is that there are may with a different testimony that is just as meaningful to them as yours is to you. When the site works it is because we are willing to accept each other's stories as valid without insisting that any one story must be normative for others. WE struggle with that many times on many issues.
Just something to remember as we all join in the discussion together

Thank you for sharing your story with us, narrowgate. It's wonderful to hear that you know Jesus.
As for me, I was baptized when I was around 3. At that time, God planted within me the faith-seed. I was washed clean by water, word, and Spirit.
Since that time God has nurtured the seed, and sustained it. I was raised in the UCC and later became a Baptist. God has led me through college, university, singleness and into marriage.
He continues to have me grow in following Christ.
Praise be to God for His wonderful salvation-gift.

mine is very different as well, having grown up catholic and becoming UCC.
i'd imagine our theologies reflect our differing experiences!!

Narrowgate thanks for sharing your testimony. I am glad that kind of theology works for you. For others it is entirely something else. Be it Echart Tolle or the Dali Lama if these people give solice to their followers more power to them. It is called different strokes for different folks or something like that.

Well bb when you find someone from your religion who has come back from the dead you let us know. If you say Jesus Christ, then show us your proof.

Since Buddhists "know" in the same way that you do, through faith, that the Dalai Lama has "come back from the other side" fourteen (if I remember correctly) times, it would seem that the matter is settled. Thank you for providing us an easy measure of such a profound problem.
Of course, I somehow doubt that you will accept their belief as "proof" - please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. But if you do not accept their proof, why should anyone accept yours?
Don't worry, blackie, I'm not expecting a deep philosophical reply. Just thought I'd offer a comment. You know me.
Be Well

the discussion wasn't about the fact that he lives, though... i said that there are many people who believe that he came back from the dead, not that he never died in the first place.
come on, bb... don't be cruel.
