Wesoly created a very thoughtful thread when she asked us what pushed us away from, and toward, faith and religion.
I would like to narrow the focus to the Christian faith and following or rejecting Jesus. What is it that attracts you to Christ? What pushes you away?
I am attracted to walking with the carpenter through his unconditional love. I am pushed away from Jesus by some of the wrongs that have been done in his name. It took me a long time to come to the realization that evil done in the name in Christ is not of Christ.

Hey, I was wrong. This topic is exactly what Wesoly was getting at. Ignore this and post to her until I can figure out how to delete this....Henderson is having a deeply middle aged moment!

Tell you what, if we keep making posts here, it will surely fade to the bottom of the forum.

I don't think continued posting will actually sink the thread, In fact the more hot air we contribute adds to its buoyancy. More posts will only prolong Dave's discomfort and . . . .oops.

Maybe while we're waiting for this dory to sink revjohn we can talk a little CFL Football. Who was it that won the Eastern Semi FInals last year? Um, gee, let's see, oh yeah - Toronto 16 Hamilton 13 - now I remember! BOATMEN RULE!

I think its disrespectful that you guys can't stay on topic and just don't discuss the thread but post here. There are plenty of threads to do that with in Social.

Given Hamilton's recent history the fact my Ti-Cats made a play-off game is a sweet victory.
Grace and peace to you.

Hi Serena,
We weren't trying to be disrespectful. As I said in an earlier post, please visit Wesoly's thread if you wish to discuss this most thoughful topic. I'm hoping this gets deleted somehow. I was just trying to have a little fun while waiting for this thread to unravel completely.
God bless,

Hi DaveHenderson,
We weren't trying to be disrespectful.
And even if you were trying it is your own thread. If you want to derail it you are the one at the wheel. Let er rip.
I'm hoping this gets deleted somehow. I was just trying to have a little fun while waiting for this thread to unravel completely.
Nothing wrong with a little fun. I doubt Admin will delete the post unless you make a specific request for them to take such action. Now if we want to get offensively and outrageously disrespectful I'm sure we could get the thread yanked ASAP.
I don't think such extreme posting is required.
Grace and peace to you.

Hi Dave
I tend to see Jesus as an ethical teacher. Much of what he is said to have taught has been taught by others both before and after him. I agree with placing God first in my life. I agree with treating others the way in which i would want to be treated. I don't agree with what has been made of Jesus...turning him into the Christ. I prefer the original...not what the church has made him out to be.
I also separate Jesus and God. To me, God is the power of the universe; the same power that drives the planets and galaxies and the power that gives us life and keeps creating.
Quantum physics teaches me that we are all discrete packets of energy at the sub-atomic level and that means that we are all connected within creation.
to me, loving God comes first. Jesus teaches us how to live, and then it's up to us to consciously become aware and connected.
I call myself a Christian athiest and a free thinker. I prefer my own relationship with God rather than what other people tell me I should believe.
It works for me.
Blessings
