what would you ask if you had just one question?

so, joan osborne's song "one of us" has been thrown around the cafe over the last few months.  i had started a thread some time back and i think pinga had at one time as well.  recently the song came up in the glee thread.  the one line of the song that always makes me think is "what would you ask if you had just ONE question?" ...  well, what would you ask god?  only one question, wow that's tough.  please keep it to just one question and feel free to add why that would be the biggie, or even what you think god's answer would be.

as for my question, it would probably have to be how the universe was created.  it's so endless, beautiful  and mysterious.  plus i would hope that the question would answer, at least partly, how it all came to be.

Why, O God, can't you communicate more clearly--or make it clear that all those communications we think you have sent are not from you.

God, why did you create man? Answer..love has no meaning unless it is given to someone so I created you to receive my love.

Well, I asked God this very question. It was answered, to my utmost satisfaction. I have no more questions.

Well, I asked for a revelation of God, and the answer was a six-hour vision of cosmic evolution.

Expressed in one word, the answer would be unity, or synthesis, because I perceived God as the unfolding universe in an inseparable state of synthesis.

I don't think God can answer our questions in detail.

For a question to be truly answered, the answerer has to be his or her own questioner.

I think God is the cosmic synthesizer and we are the cosmic analyzers. God, as the synthetical whole, has created in us ITs opposite: ITs analyzer.

But any analysis is relative to the viewpoint of the observer, and this viewpoint is arbitrarily chosen by the observer. In basic science, there are only two possible viewpoints and truths—particle or wave—but in something as infinitely complex as the human experience there are a virtually limitless number of viewpoints and truths, every one of them arbitrarily chosen by the experiencer or observer.

What's more, every one of us is a unique edition of the totality, a.k.a. God, and every one of us experiences the totality uniquely.

Analytical truth is relatively true—relative to the arbitrarily chosen viewpoint of the observer—but synthetical TRUTH is absolutely TRUE. If we want absolute TRUTH, or an absolutely TRUE answer from God, then it is inseparableness, wholeness, oneness, nonduality, unity, synthesis. etc.

This is a rather non-specific answer, but if we immerse ourselves in the wholeness, oneness, unity, or synthesis, a.k.a.God, and actually experience IT, then we experience all of these unitive feelings that come with IT, like unitive love, unitive awareness, unitive consciousness and conscience. Thess feelings, rather than a direct verbal answer, is the answer from God. And these feelings are, I think and feel, Jesus' "kingdom."

If we think and act in accordance with these unitive feelings and our own personal uniqueness, then we carry out God's non-specific answer in specific everyday thought and action.

What is a really good joke you know?

A seeker of knowledge dies, gets to heaven, and meets God.

"Finally, I get to meet you and ask you all the questions I never found answers for when I was alive!" exclaims the seeker.

"Son, there are no answers," replies God.

"What, no answers?" says the seeker incredulously.

"In a unitive universe such as ours, the answer is the opposite of the question," says God. "You create the question—you create the answer."

Sorry, Inanna, this is not a really good joke. IT is The TRUTH. But maybe The TRUTH is a joke, eh?

How about this:

What would you ask God if you had just one question?

"What's the question?"

Mine is an essay question:

Using as much detail as possible and fully supporting your answer with examples and making connections between and among points, explain why everything exists, starting with me and working your way from me and my closest relationships outwards to everything else.

An atheist died, went to heaven, and met God.

"I thought you didn't exist!" the atheist exclaimed incredulously.

"I do and I do not exist," answered God, "and whether or not I exist is up to you, not to me."

My first question was unanswered because I did not know who to direct it to.

Now I have another question which I am directing to the atheists.

Can you, as an atheist, believe in Heaven?

I will pose the question in Religion and Faith so as not to disrupt this thread.
