Someone - oh I wish I remembered who - posted within a thread here about the Explorefaith.org website. I've spent a little bit of time there and I really like it, AND I found this very interesting survey about your personal Spiritual Profile.
Which one are you? Does it fit how you see yourself? Is it helpful?
www.explorefaith.org/tools/my_spiritual_profile/index.php
I found out that I am a "Seeker", which doesn't surprise me at all, but I did find it very positive to see that profile as part of a way of being in relationship with the Holy... rather than a way of being outside of that relationship.

What are you thinking abou the questions, Gord? I found them very difficult. Loads to think about.

Hi Agnieszka.
I'm the one who posted the link to the Explorefaith.org website. I too, am a Seeker.
Well then, thank you! It is challenging to me but very interesting, and I hope, meaningful, once I spend a bit more time there.
Did you expect to get "seeker" when you took the survey?
GordW
Posted on: 01/04/2011 22:09
Simple. As with most of these quizzes on most of them I needed to select more than one answer, or none of them, or at least discuss them. But then I tend to be a fairly strong P on Myers-Briggs when I can be.

I'm sorry, what is the P on Myers-Briggs? I am familiar with Myers-Briggs, but don't recall what the P means.

Perciever--one who likes to make sure all the data is in before making a decision, who is more likely to see the variants in between clear options

I didn't know what to expect, but wasn't surprised since I have always been a "seeker".
I took the quizz one other day, and then I was a Believer.
I agree with Gord in that there is more that one answer I would like to choose for some of the questions. The good thing is they make you think.

I came up as a seeker as well, but I agree that the questions could have been much better. For example, the question about being killed unless you renounced your faith...what exactly are the circumstances? At first I imagined a gun to my head and someone saying they would kill me if I didn't believe A instead of B, and there was no option for "Say I believe whatever they want me to believe" which is exactly what I'd do. If it's an immediate choice of being shot in the head or believing that those invisible unicorns ride around on flying spaghetti monsters, I'll go with the unicorns. If it's more of a Nazi Germany situation in which a large group of people is targeted, however, I'd try to escape or go in to hiding.

I just took the quiz and came up as a Seeker. I, too, quibbled with the questions and the (limited and limiting) answers, but the screen never responded to my comments....

Of course, nearly all of us so far have come up as "seekers"... and seekers like to ask questions... So, of course, we'd have to question the survey itself, wouldn't we...

I came up as a seeker. I also questioned the questions.
Perhaps the fact that so many had similar questions and are seekers says something about the type of people who like a forum like wonder cafe.

Actually now that I've read the description along with the other ones I do think it does fit for what's I'm like right now. Without doing the quiz I would have thought it would be thinker or seeker. If I had done it even just a year or I think it would have been seeker. I realize now that a lot of my exploring it through questioning and seeking ways have been changing. I do find myself just doing and feeling without worrying or thinking about it intellectually or like at least like I did before. And I definately have an independent streak.
So maybe "Maverick" isn't that far off.

Well I most definately did go through a time where I was a 'thinker' by their definition and related more through thinking study and discussion. Now it's not like I don't ever do those things it's just not as prominent.
Anyone else see themselves as possibly being something different at some other time?

Though it's not like I'm going to be particularly fussed about how some site or anyone else for that matter tries to define what myprofile is. I just do what I do.

I got companion - and I definitely see that, I feel much more spiritually fulfilled when I share my faith with others - be it what I've learned intellectually, or what I feel in my gut. However reading the definitions I believe lover, seeker or thinker would have made sense too. In that regard, I agree that these were not questions where simply picking one response with no further context is particularly revealing, although an interesting exercise.

I had a similar problem in that most of the questions had several answers that were equally valid for me.
However, It was interesting just to look throught the questions.

Interesting, but superficial: I came out a "Lover". That makes me feel good but I'm not sure it's helpful... the process, I think is pretty facile.
But no harm in playing the silly game.

Hold the phone you two. I also got thinker. Three of a kind.
Thinkers are people who naturally connect with the Holy One through the use of their intellect. They want to clearly understand their faith and appreciate having logical explanations for what they are asked to believe. They will read and study, alone or with others, in order to better grasp the truth of their faith. They believe that God wants them to discover the order that may seem hidden in the more abstract aspects of religious faith. They seek to relate to the Holy One through thinking, study, and discussion. They tend to be more formal in their prayer. If they were to meet God face to face, they would want to discuss with God how they have come to understand their faith.
A good Scriptural example of a thinker was Paul. He had a keen and well-trained intellect and was able not only to understand the many layers of faith and spiritual development, but was able to skillfully teach them to others. He was fearless in confronting his enemies and persecutors because he was so confident that he could persuade others of the truth through well-reasoned thought.
If you are a thinker, you will ordinarily find your soul fed through spiritual practices that encourage faith through intellectual development. The Explore Faith section and material written by Marcus Borg, Phyllis Tickle and Bob Hansel may nourish your hungry soul. Also the interview with Dr. Francis Collins of the Human Genome Project and material about Pierre Teilhard de Chardin may be of particular interest. Explorefaith.org’s Bookshelf section will also offer numerous resources for further reading and exploration.
Thinkers have more difficulty relating to the Holy One through their emotions and affections. The material on Living Spiritually and Saints Prophets and Spiritual Guides may provide insight and ideas on how to develop that less-used part of your soul. Plus the Meditation section for meditating using art and music and the insights of Kristen Johnson Ingram on Doing Prayer can help with non-verbal ways to connect with the Holy.

Hi Agnieszka!
Thanks for the quiz. I guess I'm a "Lover." ?????
This was right on the money:
"If you are a lover, you will find prayer and meditation likely ways to deepen your love relationship with the Holy One"
And so was this:
"Lovers may find it more difficult to think about the more theological aspects of faith"
.

canoe guy - seeker
In Harry Potter, the Seeker is a position in the wizarding sport of Quidditch. There is one Seeker per team. The goal of the Seeker is to catch the Golden Snitch. They play a crucial role in Quidditch, as a game does not end until the Seeker catches the Snitch. A team whose Seeker catches the Snitch receives 150 points. Seekers are generally the smallest and lightest players on a team, and there is a certain glamour attached to playing as a Seeker.
Trying to grab the Golden Snitch, grasp the meaning of God???
