Blues and rock n' roll can be very spiritual, though, even without the overt God talk, imo....often more than the music in hymnals...they've got soul...just saying'

I heard Alain de Botton talk about the original one in the UK on Tapestry (this was a couple years or so back). I'd give them a whirl if they came to London but given that I sometimes find UU'ism to be less spiritual than I really want/need, I don't know that it would work for me.

yeah, i'm a real squishy-dippy type when it comes to rpgs...so it surprised me when i took to Champions & Rolemaster...

Hey, don't knock Champions. Hero System was my go-to rule set for the last few years I was actively playing RPGs. Rolemaster on the other hand ... Dear God, the tables!

There is at least one atheist song. I still can't copy and paste here (I can everywhere else) but look up "Dear God" by XTC on youtube. It was a very slight one hit wonder in the 80's. I think I heard that it was originally the B side of a song they released, expecting this one to have no radio potential, but it wound up getting some play on MTV while the original A side went nowhere.
Also you could make the case for John Lennon's "Imagine" being an atheist song due to the line "imagine there's no God". A lot of people from the S. Baptist churches I grew up in hated it for that reason.

UUs sometimes use "Imagine" in services, esp. the more humanist among us.
OTOH, "Dear God" is rather bitter in its outlook and I'm not sure anyone would want it as "their song" or for a service, even an atheist. It's good and has a good point, but is rather bitter.
It's a bit of a stretch to call XTC a one-hit wonder. Pop chart wise, they indeed didn't have many hits (this one and "Making Plans for Nigel"), but they did have their following and were a force in the New Wave during the late seventies and into the eighties, perhaps more so across the pond than here.
