Thoughts and prayers for your father-in-law, Inanna.  He sounds like a strong person, so hopefully he can recover.

Edit: I am so sorry Inanna! That came out all wrong. Your father in law. I am thinking of the man you are concerned about and and about you and your wife and sending hugs. I was just talking to my family and your description of your father in law, reminded me of my late grandpa, miss him, and grandma's not doing well and I felt you...don't mean to get in the way, but to say, I feel what you're going through and pray all will be well.

Thinking of you as you go through this difficult  time of these specific health issues of your FIL - may you, your wife, and all those walking with you at this time be sustained and carried.  Saying a prayer right now.

Caring thoughts and cyber hugs heading towards you and your extended family.  It isn't easy watching while someone approaches their end here on earth.

inanawhimsey, as you used the word hospice, i have a sense that you are walking the last leg of the journey with him.

may you be surrounded by love in these days, and that when tired folks let negativity get in the way, that you find a way to move past it....that you just be able to be there for each other and him.
