"I AM THE BUBBLEGUM THAT CLINGS TO YOUR SHOE!"

So, I was tooling around another thread and, thanks to my magpie mind and some poster's words, I started on another tangent.

Yes, yes, yes, no one was hurt too much and I bear the shame of it all....:3

But...

Ok, here's the schoop.

Imagine yourself as a SUPERHEROINE.  Who would you be?  You don't have to pick someone that has already been made.  What would your powers be like?  Who would your sidekicks be like?  And so forth.  Guys, you can pick one too.

Ok.  Imagine yourself as a SUPERHERO.  Gals, you can too :3  The same as above.

Now, imagine yourself as a Villian.  Same as above.

Ready!  Set!  ACTION!

LOL! Funny idea! Well, I would be like a flying gold coloured Xena, but less hostile...maybe more like She Ra.... Definatley flying. I would shoot my fist up into the air and take off like Superman. My outfit would be Viking-esque with wingies on my head and feet. I would deal with corporate polluters, and sock nasty men, protecting women and children.

I found this pic of She Ra a while ago, great artist! I saved it for potential avatar use.

Hero? Dark Spirit. A rather dark superhero I played in an RPG eons ago. He had psychic powers (telepathy, able to suppress light to darken an area, mind control). Black cloak and body suit with a face hiding mask. I thought up a nice background1 that I was developing into an adventure for the campaign but never got to use it. Was contemplating writing some stories about him, too, but those kind of got sidelined as well.

For a published hero, I'd go with Batman. I've been fond of the Dark Knight ever since I watched the Adam West series and movie as a kid. I'd try to hit a balance between the rather lawful, police-helping West version and the dark, vigilante on the run of Frank Miller's graphic novels.

Heroine? Jean Grey (Marvel Girl/The Phoenix) from the X-men. Neat psychic powers at the beginning, uber-powerful world smasher at the end. The version in the movies did not do her justice, esp. the Dark Phoenix version in X-Men : Last Stand. Her boyfriend (Cyclops) is pretty cool, too, and they had a pretty good relationship (which is why I do not understand why the folks who made the movies had Dark Phoenix kill him off). Not as much drama as some superhero relationships (well, until she lost control and became Dark Phoenix).

Villain? Victor von Doom (aka Doctor Doom) from Marvel's Fantastic Four. He had his own country to rule, power armour, and the resources to build lots and lots of cool toys. Don't have a pic handy to link, but it's suspected by some Marvel-philes that he was the inspiration for Darth Vader: basically he wears body armour with a mask covered by a cloak and hood. Haven't seen the Fantastic Four movies so I don't know if he was played well in them or not.

1Basically he was genetically engineered by aliens as part of an invasion plan but developed a conscience. He was amnesiac at the time of the campaign so knew none of this and the background was going to come out over the course of the adventure when they discover that the villains they are fighting are the rest of his "squad".

Hi InannaWhimsey,

That would be distracting.

InannaWhimsey wrote:

Hmmmm.  Power Girl is fun.  "Hey, my eyes are up here!"

InannaWhimsey wrote:

Everything that Superman has plus a . . .uh . . .the power to distract males.

GL 2815.1 or any of the other 7200 GLs (I was going to say Laira above but her death at Sinestro's hands makes me sad)

Superpowers?  None.  I would have the most powerful weapon in the cosmos though and it would be powered by my will.

This is hard.  They've really fleshed out Sinestro over the last few years with the Sinestro Corps Wars, Blackest Night, Brightest Day and now war of the Green Lanterns.  Atrocitus is an interesting character also.

Then there is Bolphunga the Unrelenting who will be voiced by Rowdy Roddy Piper in the upcoming Green Lantern anthology.

Bolphunga the Unrelenting has the strength of a Denedian Dozer-bull, the endurance of a Lalotian Lava Limpet and the intelligence of a bed of kelp.

I'm also partial to that Patriarch of evil--The Terror!

Grace and peace to you.

John

Hmmm...

When I was in my twenties, my roommates called me She-Ra because I could lift heavy objects. So I would be like her but also uber-intelligent and able to fly.

If I was a Super-Hero I would have basically the same qualities - just with a masculine body.

If I were a villain I would live in an ice cave and have the ability to turn everything and everyone into a pile of ice cubes - just by looking at them with my abnormally blue eyes.

Hard question!  I was a huge Spiderman fan growing up.  Yikes I can still remember all the words to the song at the beginning lol.

I'll have to think about this!

New trailer for the GL movie is up this morning, John. Google for it.

Ah,  but which one? I'm not up on the Old Republic stuff so I don't much about Bane and some of other older Sith lords, but as a comic book supervillain, I think Maul would work pretty well (I've read Shadow Hunter and the novella, whose title I forget)

Yep. It would be Darth Bane. He instituted the Rule of Two and thereby re-establishing the use of the "Darth" title:

"Two there should be; no more, no less. One to embody power, the other to crave it."

-Darth Bane

Darth Bane was also the Sith'ari. He was bad ass all the way to the end. He is more powerful than Vader (although Vader is pretty bad ass himself). Bane devoted his time to learning ALL the ways of the Dark Side and didn't have any leftover baggage from being a former Jedi Knight. He was a true Sith through and through. He was so powerful, he single handedly destroyed the old Sith order, save himself and his apprentice. Yep, Darth Bane is the MAN!!!

Why do I sense that your Green Lantern avatar may make a return appearance, John? Maybe somewhere around June 17?

With Thor getting middling to bad reviews, I'm hoping GL will be the big superhero movie of the summer and waiting for it to arrive (Captain America is coming, too, but I'm not a huge Cap fan). With Batman going great guns, a new Superman in the works, and Green Lantern in action, not to mention a new Wonder Woman TV series, could a live action Justice League movie be a possibility? If Marvel can pull off the Avengers movie, which will tie together characters from the Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, and Captain America movies, it might be worth a shot.

OT, I guess, but the thread is about superheroes.
