There is an ad in the Observer about an insurance company. It is owned by a charitable trust and is called Ecclesiasticals. www.ecclesiastical,ca. Would you think that insurance companies like this are more reputable than the standard insurance companies?
Just wondering.

No. Insurance companies are provincally regulated. All must meet strict legal compliance. Ecclesiatical is an arm of the Church of England. They did hold the corner on the church market, but no longer. The United Church Group policy is held by HUB International and Aviva. We use them. They are very good.

Crazyheart - my experiences with insurance companies has been both good and bad.
Two fires - one in the kitchen with relatively minor damage; the other when the camp was totally destroyed - excellent
Car accidents - almost new car a write-off - terrible experience with the insurer - rude, dinsulting, and in the end not paying nearly as much as we (and a lawyer we consulted) felt we were entitled to since the accident was entirely the other driver's fault.
old car - daughteer skidded on black ice - write-off - good experience - good settlement with no hassle.
fender-bender - no complaints
Health insurance - generally very unsatisfactory and the amount permitted every two years for vision care is a joke. It doesn't cover the optomitrist, let alone pay anything towards the perscription.
Life insurance - don't have it
