Go to Eagle Watch weekend.
The chuicken farmers leave dead chicken outside to feed the eagles, who come every year and you easily can see 50 or more eagles. See here:

The community puts on pancake breakfasts with music, (to warm up after you froze watching the eagles in freezing windchill )- and suppers and eagle picture exhibitions. People even come from Halifax with busses.

Get frustrated with the condition of the sidewalks during the January thaw.

Mrs. Anteater, how does one live so long in this country and find out new things like the Eagle Watch. Thats why we need WonderCafe to remain.

Take down the tree
Organize my file cabinet (I wish)
Make plans for the new year
Celebrate my daughter's birthday
Worry about how I'll ever get the outside lights down

Pay my house taxes.
And like others posted - take my Christmas tree and house decorations down.

mrs. anteater - thanks for the media clips - such an interesting event to hear about - and two of the speakers are distant second or third cousins of mine!
What' I'm doing THIS January is planning my next vacation! Hoping to have eevrything firmed up by the end of the month.
Thinking about my daughter's birthday this coming week - she was expected to be born on March 10, but instead arrived on Jan. 15!

Her arrival was quite a bit earlier, carolla!

Yes beloved - she was 8 weeks early - and we jokingly say she's been late for everything ever since!

I managed to get my outside Christmas lights down today. The rain yesterday really settled the snow, and the temp was above freezing.
That's something I won't be doing again until next January.

I tend to have quiet times in January at home, but, work kicks in big in January. Of course, there is the Christmas decorations being taken down like many others here.

I wish people would keep their lights up all winter. Brightens up the dark days. The downtown main street near me still has twinkly lights in the trees. :)
Something I do in January...be extra frugal? Try to lose the Christmas 5 pounds (helps to have to be frugal). Not my favourite month. Here we have cold rain and more rain. It feels like 4:30 p.m. (dusk) all day.

I can't think of anything I only do in January. Some years there are no decorations to remove and some years they survive until well into Feb or March

Celebrate my birthday. Make plans to move to move to a warmer climate. Threaten to buy a 4 x 4.
