50 years ago. I was a young married and we had a baby girl and lived in Banff. We had few channels and little colour. I couldn't believe it when it was announced on all channels. Ran to my neighbours. They were also in shock. Watched all the coverage. How about you?

I was only 4 and I have no recollection of it at all. Not a big impact on my life.

Walking home from school & told about it by a friend. Didn't have a clue who he was until someone told me. I was around 9. I actualy have a clearer memory of Marilyn Monroe's death, and remember being more moved by it.

I wasn't born yet, but my mom has an interesting story about it. She was working at the NORAD base in North Bay and they went in to complete lockdown.

I will ask this. If most of you who have posted were born before 1963 or shortly after , in another 20 years, let's say, will people remember at all. It was interesting to hear on the news that Jackies dress etc. has been locked away in a temperature controlled container with the blood stains still on it and would not be opened for 90 years. That would be 2053. It said that if it were opened sooner people would be too upset. On the other hand who would care?

I was in Grade 3 and I was home from school sick. I remember my mom hearing the news and remember seeing her cry.

I was not even contemplated yet. Firsthand memory of things fades. That does not mean nobody remembers, it means those who were there are fewer or nonexistent. I mean we recall the depression and further back... hey don't we still remember some Jew from long before any of us were born?

First off, I'm 1 1/2 years too young. I think my parents had just bought the house I grew up in or were about to. My memories are all of reading and, hearing it about ad nauseum (yes, I am a little sick of the whole thing).
Like the world wars, it is a fading memory to the extent that more and more know it second or third hand or through history books. I don't see it being completely forgotten, though. The myth of the American Camelot isn't going to die that easily. As SG points out, some people and events simply are not forgotten.

I was in High School sitting for the Leaving Certificate - which was a big deal in itself.......
I remember thinking, "I'll never forget this day."
And I haven't.......

Apparently, to hear my mom's story, I was a little toddler playing around the house as my mom cried and listened to Charlie Parker. But the mystery of JFK's murder became one of the biggest questions in my life (and of many other Americans of my age).

I was one day old - born Nov. 21/63 - and was apparently very popular that day. I've been told that my mom was the only person on that floor of the hospital who had a radio in her room, and everyone was coming in to hear the news reports - and, of course, paying attention to the one day old baby while they were there. My memory of the day is unfortunately a bit fuzzy though.

I was 5, and do not remeber it. I did find a book when I was about 12 that my older brother had purchased regarding JFK and reading it. (My brother would have been 16 at the time).
I am fairly sure that had I been an American 5yr old that the changes and impacts around me would be remembered.

I wS five in kindergarten. We had just moved to London from Toronto and I was just walking home from school on my own.
I remember walking into the house and my mom was crying. The tv was on which was un heard of. Only on for hockey, Saturday cartoons, Ed Sullivan..... She was watching the coverage.
I remember being hopeful of watching some of the shows my friends watched but of course that was a no.
