It is the May Long Weekend. Is it so across Canada? What are you doing. It is cool here but still people are going camping - first time for the summer but not the best weather.

mmmm - tomorrow night is our very own lobster fest with friends! Fresh caught lobster & mussels from PEI - so delicious!!
On Sunday my brother & his wife are arriving from BC & will have afternoon visit & dinner with us - his son, and a cousin will also join us - hopefully a BBQ but we'll probably have to eat inside.
Other than feasting, I'll do a bit of tidy up & prep for vacation - hooray only 2 weeks to go and I'll be in Newf!

I'm spending it at a cottage 8 km from the Ford family cottage. If I want to see him, where should I hang out? The local LCBO kiosk in the Foodland at Port Sydney? I don't think the area has a Steak Queen.

He's been seen around Bracebridge and Gravenhurst so I'd start there.
And we're not doing anything special. Just get some house and yardwork done and do some relaxing. Weather isn't ideal around here, either. Kind of cool with a chance of showers.

I'm going to literally ride my bike by the road to his cottage, just to see if there are news trucks there. I expect a few.

There actually is one in Gravenhurst. The Globe story I linked doesn't mention it but I saw it in another report of the cottage country sightings (which I am trying to find). So, the assumption now is that if he really is in rehab, he's in that one.

I expect a quiet weekend. Seelerman will be driving taxi. Seelergirl will be busy with her daughter's rehersals for the big dance production coming up. Friends may be off opening their cottages (the typical activity for the May weekend in this area). But it's predicted to be cool (10 or 12 degrees) and rainy Sunday and Monday. Maybe folks will stay home.
If tomorrow is nice I might get some yard work done. Then church on Sunday. Not much else.

In Calgary, people plant flowers and then get upset when it snows for at least one of the days even though it happens about 90% of the time. I haven't really paid attention to see how often we get snow here this weekend.
We'll be visiting with friends - first overnight guests here.

I'm driving home on saturday (made a choice to drive instead of fly).
I'm going out ofr dinner on sunday, i hope, with family...and visiting wiht my dad
I am probably working part of Monday, and taking the US holiday the following Monday.
I hope that I will smell the spring bushes in my backyard
I hope that I will spend time with my family just being quiet and together.
i look forward to a bbq.

I am out at the cottage, along with hubby and daughter. We came out last night. I spent the day doing cupboards. I look around me, inside and out, and see work, work, work. But it will all be fun, and by the end of cabin season I may not even get it all done.
I look out at the lake and see such a difference in the ice since last night and this morning. It has receded from the shoreline about 30 more feet and is very patchy in our little bay.
I've seen Robbins, and ravens, and seagulls, and loons. And squirrels and chipmunks and bunnies. Oh yes, and mosquitoes.
For those travelling - be safe.

Me too Pinga, this is my first overnight, my first trip out to the cottage since last fall. It is nice to be here. Hubby and I will attempt to live here as much as possible til fall with various commitments in town.
A barbecue sounds good. We have not had one yet this year. What will you barbecue? What is your favourite?

I can't imagine it snowing on the May long weekend. Lol! So, are the infamous Chinooks cold or warm?
It looks like it's clouded over and going to rain here for the time being. I hope not all weekend. I'm going to clean the house, do laundry. Clean the sliding glass doors. Maybe throw a frisbee around at the park nearby with my husband- get a bit of exercise. Not a busy weekend. I might walk around and check out yard sales. Maybe head down to the pond at Stanley Park and try not to upset any geese. We'll see what happens. We both have 3 days off which is nice, and rare.

Today I'm going to see a play produced by one of my nephews. He's a theater student at UWaterloo.
Sometime this weekend I may also cut the front lawn.
And I'll get some walks in around the neighborhood.
Tomorrow is church, and I'll be doing the morning Announcements as usual.
Most of my time this weekend, though, will be spent doing homework. I have a number of assignments and readings to do for various courses - New Testament; Internship; Greek Exegesis.

Well I had a mystery solved when I went scouting on google. I have a Hoya plant. It was given to me (little) by an elderly woman who has since died.
It has had over 20 years and the greenery was wonderfu lbut maybe 1 or 2 flowers one year.
But this year there are already about 15 or so. beautiful.
For the past 3 nights there has been strong fragrance through out the house starting about 8 or 8:30 but gone by morning.
So in my seach I found they send out fragrance when the sun goes down and stop when the sun cmes up- hence the fragrance.
CrazyDad suffers from allergies - What to do? Get rid of the plant or give CrazyDad claridin and ge rid of him. lol

LOL at getting rid of crazy dad!
Is there a room he doesn't venture in very often or not at all?
Is it just the flowers that bother him? Could you lend it out at certain times? Does one of your children who you visit often want it so you can enjoy it in their home?
I can picture weighing the two . . . Crazy dad on one hand . . . . Beautiful plant on the other.
Ice is all gone from my little bay.

My mom had a gorgeous hoya. I can only remember a few years when it flowered profusely. I think the flowers only last a short time.
