Hi Everyone
Seeler & her husband will be staying at Five Oaks in Paris, ON the weekend of July 10.
I would love to have a bbq on Saturday July 11th with wondercafe folks at Five Oaks. I am thinking that for a minimal cost, we could chip in & book the summer centre.
For those who would be interested in making a weekend of it, accomodations are available at Five Oaks.
There is lots to do, it is suitable for families...maybe we could have a campfire.
What do you think? Are people available? Are you interested?

If only it were a week sooner. It's so unfortunate that Seeler and I will miss each other by less than a week.

Sorry for the western crewe....Northwind, you are coming east, when those of us going to GC are heading west..
Ok, so....who is able to attend Five Oaks, and is interested? I'm thinking of the fun time that was had at the Waterloo bbq / picnic...(or so I was told about)

Toss your obstacles at us and we'll fix em (but I can't buy a plane ticket! )

Thanks Pinga for getting this thread going. I'm so excited about meeting some of the folks that I've talked to so often - and those who lurk but only post occasionally.
I met Pinga two years ago when she was passing through NB.
But I haven't been to Five Oaks in 40+ years.
Please come if you can.

Sorry Nameste that our paths won't cross. Is there any way you could delay your trip?
And Penny - jump on a plane and come. I enjoyed the bar-b-q at your place when I was out west. Come and join me at Five Oaks.

Given that I live in London, this should be easy but, alas, I'll be prepping for an out-of-country trip that week so ain't goinna happen. My best to Seeler and those who do make it.

Seeler, unfortunately there's no way I can delay my trip. Birthstone has done an incredible job of planning all sorts of stuff for me and working around everyone's schedules, so there's no way I can change that.
Perhaps our paths will cross another time. I doubt that this will be my only trip to the east...

I will just quote you the note I sent to seeler ...
"There must be some kind of magic at work here seeler! I have been away from Wondercafe for several months (for no particular reason whatsoever). About a week or so ago I found myself thinking about what a good time we had at the little Wondercafe picnic a couple of years ago in Waterloo Park and how nice it would be to do something like that again. I promised myself I would go on and check to see what (if anything) might be happening just in case something was in the works. Then I forgot about it.
Tonight, I came down intending to take a look ... just to check in to see what was doing, if anything, but before going over to Wondercafe, I thought I ought to check my email ... and what should be waiting for me but a notice that I had received wondermail. I open it and "zoot alors!", there is an invite to meet you at a Wonderpicnic!
I will certainly be there!"

i believe that i will be unable to attend; i am sad b/c would love to meet `seeler and to finally go to Five Oaks, but, alas, I have other plans...
seeler

So sorry cjms - it is too bad that we can't arrange to be in two places at once. I am sorry I will miss you - but I have a grandson who plays soccer (beginning level) and I know how important a tornament can be. Enjoy the games, and think of us.

Food typically is incentive enough as far as I am concerned. I would need to have a better idea of the timing as I have two teens to take to Silver Lake that day.
They need to be there for 2pm registration Which means I'm leaving here noonish and returning later in the afternoon.
I've already wondermailed a response to Seeler promising that I would get over and if the family can handle it RevJohn from the pulpit on Sunday morning.
Grace and peace to you.

I'd suggest that we plan to arrive later in the day, have a potluck dinner.
i'm suggesting that those who wish could book into five oaks for an overnight..it's fairly reasonable.
we could have a campfire ?
ok...a lot of hopes..have to see who is coming, then I will contact five oaks.
Seeler is already booked in...and given the response, will make the call either today or tomorrow to know other items.
so...so far, we have

It's going to happen. It is! It is! I'll be there, and people are showing interest. Remember, whenever two or three are gathered - or half a dozen - or more.
We'll just have to work out the details.
And if you know anybody from the Cafe who lives in the area, or who might be interested, draw their attention to the thread.

Pupplypaws - after I get back, maybe we could talk about something for the Maritimes. I know one or two people from NS who might be interested. And I'll have so much more experience about organizing an event. Thanks to Pinga for this one.

Yeah!
MWS...I always refer to you as msw...sorry.
Ok, I have a plan to call Five Oaks tomorrow...hopefully, i can get some specifics..and figure out costs, what if it rains, etc..
some of us are considering staying over, just so the kids can have fun, and we can sit back & enjoy a good long visit. (even if it is easy enough to just drive there, and drive home)
seeler
Posted on: 06/11/2009 23:01
Oh I hope that some will stay over and into the next day. It will be so much fun.

Seeler, you may have found something to do for part of Saturday -- ie morning, early afternoon -- see MWS's reference to international festival in Brantford.
Brantford is right beside Five Oaks...

Hi Pinga,
Revjohn -- possibly -- and family? would be good to meet
Well, the daughters wouldn't be there, they'd be at Silver Lake.
That leaves the Doctor and the boys.
I'll talk to them about it.

Actually this is our second daughter. Has not arrived yet. Have an ultrasound appt. this afternoon to determine whether or not she is breach. If so then this Sunday we have an appointment to get her turned. Tuesday is the official due date.
