News

Hi Everyone;

I registered in my Nursing program today and will start January 18th.  Which means that I am only free for two more weeks.  :(  Before I have to study and do assignments.

Sounds interesting -- wishing you al the best in your first term.

I wish I'd taken nursing.  I'm virtually doing the dirty end of it now, but without the better salary.  Another advantage is that you can work virtually anywhere.  There is especially a demand for nurses in areas off the beaten track where the male population tends outnumber the female.......

.....and yet another confirmation that I have made the correct career move.....

The first being that I got passed over for a promotion at work two weeks ago because my education lacks medical courses.

Congratulations

You will never have to worry about job security for the rest of your life

My aunt became a nurse decades ago , she was from a small jerkwater town and wanted to see the world ...... she did after nursing she spent a few years in Montreal then got the urge to go to Austrailia , Itay Germany and the USA

She picked up 4 husbands along the way and is now happily retired  and now

addicted to morphine

just kidding about the morphine

so if you wanna expand your horizons this is your ticket

the future is so bright you gotta wear shades

It is distance education so I will be isolated and will not have fellow students but it is the only way I can afford to take another degree....keep working.  So yes, I will love to share updates.

I like that part.  Now is she married to four different guys at the same time or did she get divorced 3 times?   Hey...this is wondercafe....it is like Jerry Springer!!!

Sounds like a new beginning Serena!  Will you also have opportunity to do practical placements before you graduate?

Will you be taking 1 course at a time or a full load?

Be careful you don't burn out between working and studying.

I am going to take one course at a time.   I can also do my studying at work.   I have lots of time on my hands now because I am not teaching so it is weird to come home and have no work to do.  Plus I am lonely because my mother is not in town anymore and I am not driving to the city  on my days off.

I got my study guide and textbook today!!!

I am allowed to start as soon as I get my materials and I read the study guide.   My official start date is not until January 18th but that just means that I cannot order the first test before then.  I also cannot have tutor help but I don't think I need any help.  This course is just a lot of memorization.

You may not need a tutor but there might be a forum for ya ...

Just saw this thread.  Good for you, Serena!!!  I wish you all the best.  And I look forward to your updates, too.

My young neighbour (mid 30 something) just finished, and passed, her courses and lucked out on getting the first job she applied for.  She's an Assistant Head Nurse in a Senior's residence here in town, works monday to friday, 7am - 4:30pm!  Right place..right time.
