Oakville Youth Service

Hi All,

The following e-mail was sent out to Churches in the Oakville area. I thought I would share it with you.

My name is Katie and I am a member of the St. John's United Church Youth Group. Our next youth service is coming up on March 3rd, 2007. We are going to be focusing on:

Audience of One...it's a song by Big Daddy Weave. What we would like to focus on is the idea that we are here on earth to impress nobody--God is our audience and the ONE in life that we should put our heart and soul into living and breathing for. What others say and do doesn't matter--it's how we live our lives for Jesus that matters! How do we do that everyday? Tough question...we'll look at a few ideas at our service.

We have a live and filmed drama, a live band and Rev. John Maich is back with us again to talk about how we can live as if only God is watching and he is the only one we have to impress.

The service will begin at 7:30pm, but the doors open at 7:00pm, so come early, get a good seat and enjoy our pre-service fun. If you have any questions or if you would like to RSVP don't hesitate to email us at youthservice@stjohnsunited.ca. Please check out our website to see pictures, learn about our previous services, and to learn more about our upcoming service.

Grace and peace to you.

John

Hi All,

6 days and counting

Your chance to here my actual voice.

Shake my actual hand.

Or,

If the sermon tanks (as if)

Your chance to actually flee from me.

Why ignore my posts when you can come and give me the cold shoulder in person?

Plus our youth band does an exceedingly good job.

Plus our youth drama team does marvelous things with such a tiny production budget.

And . . .

Free snacks afterwards during fellowship time.

Depending on traffic I can drive from home to the church in less than an hour.

So . . .

Oakville is close, like we're in Oakville it is that close.

Burlington is close, like joined at the hip close.

Missassauga is close like joined at the other hip in a freakish cojoined triplet close.

Hamilton, Waterdown, Milton are also close as in just around the corner close.

Yes, it is primarily geared towards the youth and yet, we do not turn away the young at heart or those going through their second childhood for the gazillionth time.

Yes, it is a worship service and it does get churchy but I leave the Genevan gown in the office and typically dress casually

I'm in there somewhere (we should do a caption contest or something)

But don't just be cyberchickens and cluck away at your keyboards.

Come outside, it will be evening so the daylight shouldn't be too severe.

Come on over and say hi.

Grace and peace to you.

John

Hi all,

2 hours and counting.

You could still make it.

Roads are clear, visibility is good.

There is still time.

Grace and peace to you.

John
