Hello my friends!
I promised some time ago that I would post more pictures of our gazebo project as it moved along towards completion.
Good news! .... we are finally at the stage where we can have friends come and enjoy with us!
We are so looking forward to the wonderful opportunities this will bring.
I shall share stories here as they happen......
I shall post each pic on its own.....
Thank you all for sharing this joy with us!
Hugs

Hi Rita, that is excellent news. I look forward to the pictures. BTW, I love your new profile picture, you gorgeous thing!
As for posting pictures, you need to have them on a website like shutterfly, flickr or similar. When you have them there, you copy from the site and paste to your message. It really is easy once you figure it out.
Good luck.

Thank for the kind compliment Northwind makes a gal feel so good to hear something like that!
And thank you for the help with pictures .....
I shall set up something for that....
Yayyyy! ... I will get this sorted out!

This is taken from our fire pit where we have evening campfires.....
Our dog Nordic (nicknamed Doodles) is in the picture too!
Such a gentle and friendly member of the family...
During the walks he takes me on he has introduced me to so many of my neighbours!

Finally ...... this is the trellis that I have placed to welcome our neighbours into our yard.
I made this originally for my son's wedding .......

Congratulations Rita!
Nordic looks like a nice dog. He looks like our girl who died in April. She was a lovely lab/shepherd cross who was a fierce and loyal protector.
Enjoy your gazebo and yard.

beautiful work, Rita. I very much like that it's screened in.

Wow. That's a beautiful piece work. We probably need a screened gazebo or something. My wife was trying to read on the deck last night and got eaten alive by the skitters. The heart trellis gateway is nice, too.
By the way, I like your new profile picture, as well.

Very nice gazebo, Rita. Although, Nordic looks like he is getting ready to christen it.

Ah Rita, nothing like the great outdoors!
I think Id like to lay beside the gazebo on a blanket, and gaze up through the tree-leaves.
(And pop into the gazebo for a chat, drink and munchies!)

Wow Rita - this is gorgeous! Must have been quite a job to build it! A good size too - meals, games, long conversations - all bug free!! And your arbour is lovely too - no surprise that from you would come a symbol of great love! And, I do especially like your new pic - yellow sweater & flippy hair - very nice indeed!

This is fantastic Rita. It looks very inviting. I think a virtual WC gazebo party is in order! I wonder how many of us could fit in.

Great stuff. We were looking for something to do on the coming long weekend. What's that address again?
RitaTG
Posted on: 07/27/2010 08:57
myst ....WC virtual gazebo party? ....... SURE!!
I am sure there is room for everyone and even one more!
The BBQ is nearby and we can chat while I cook....
The cooler is right there near the steps ...help yourself ....something nice for everyone..
Nibblers on the table ....cool cucumbers nicely sliced ..... baby carrots from a good friend nearby ...... fresh broccoli and cauliflower ..... and a smashing good dip too
For those that prefer fruit ..... wedges of watermellon, cantelope, honeydew mellon, cherries, grapes and pineapple all on a nice bed of crushed ice to keep them refreshingly cold.
The blender is right there next to the BBQ ...... come and try you hand at making a new drink! Experiment! ...have fun!
Lawn darts in the yard (the safe kind) ...... and for those with some child still in them why dont you climb up in the treehouse and watch a train go by? There is a tire swing ... maybe Pilgrim would like that ..... lean back and giggle and see sweeping views of the sky through the tree leaves and you swing back and forth. Maybe just lay on the grass ..... there is so much shade an the yard is gently dappled with sunlight all day but you will not get burned.
Later we will sit around the campfire and roast marshmellows an hotdogs ...and tell stories...
There are these two beautiful lights in the yard that give off a subtle glow in the evenings so you can make your way back to the house. Rope lights on the steps so you can see and not stumble.
The lights are gentle and dim enough to be discrete and add to the magic of the evening rather than dispelling it.
Anyone have a guitar? Oh my the time we would have! When the neighbours hear we will call them over to join us! (happens from time to time)
..... ahhh FriendJae ... how I would love to have you visit this long weekend but alas we will be away this weekend and next to family functions.... Please do send me a wondermail and yes I will share my address with you. How I would love to personally meet you and all the others as well.
You have made my day and sparked and idea (I shall share that once I am able to put some sunstance to it)
Hugs

Wow Rita, the photos of your gazebo were enticing enough ... now with your words to describe all of the food and activities - well, I am there for sure! And I'll bring along my guitar too.
Hmmm, just having a thought tying two threads together - I'm also imagining a crew of wondercafers - just off to the side of the lovely gazebo under a big beautiful tree - enjoying sitting on Hilary's church pew as it stops for a wee break on its way across the country.

myst! ...what a lovely thought! ..... now we need a pic of the church pew!
Here is another thought .... carefully tie the pew with ropes and convert it into a nice big swinging chair for the day! ...... I have the perfect tree too!
Oh my the stories we could share sitting there swinging away.....

There is sonthing poetic about a swinging pew, by a welcoming gazebo. Maybe one of our resident poets can think of a rhyme for it.

mine is very similar to that, but a with a very dark finish. Now, ch, find one that's roped to a tree so that we can photoshop it into Rita's photo.

Rita, sadly the tire swing wasn't a success.
There I was on my virtual swing - remembering to point my toes at the sky to go higher and higher (as taught by my sister Sue!) - when I heard a young voice say,
"Lady, when are you going to let us kids have a turn?"
(Now if I would never compete for a man, there was no chance I'd compete for a swing.)
So I'm now gazing up at the sky on a blanket in a far corner of the yard - just far enough away not to hear a young voice say, "It's my turn."

Possum, it was time you got off the swing anyway as you were spilling frozen margarita all over yourself.

I hope that you have as many visitors in RL as you will have dropping here !
PS: Pass me a DCwL, please
