Service to others!

Last night I watched a female finacial wizard on Larry King Life telling us that the near future is not going to be a peace of cake. The worst part about it is, she said, that society  on the whole is living in denial.

Although not a finacial wizard of any kind I tend to agree with her. Roaming further afield I came across the following message by one "Longdream". AFAIMC, this goes for all inhabitants of North America, whether Mexican, American or Canadian. Let us take heart and look after our neighbours.

Peace.

Copied from Alternet by  Longdream:

There is absolutely no better cure for self-pity, gloom, ponderous thoughts, fear about the future, and reactive depression for good cause than to find some sonofabitch who's worse off than you, and help him out.

And in the coming years, we're going to have to pull together this way. The bright side is, if we're looking out for our neighbors, and they're looking out for us, we'll all make

We have become a race of now, now, now, more, more, more.  More junk. Faster junk. Louder junk. And when we are done, we dispose of the to a third world country where they take it apart to earn a few pennies, just to survive.  Our environent is going to crud,  and thanks to the crap we buy and then dispose of over there, so is theirs.

Looking out for each other, we have to.

I went out to get a pound of coffee at noon.  I could have gone to the grocery store and bought two pounds for under $7. Instead, I went to Bridgehead and paid $18.  More money than brains?  Maybe, or maybe I figure that at least some of the hype is true and a bit more money gets back to the grower.

Caring, the Church sponsors refugee families to Canada.

We go on Habitat builds to New Orleans and El Salvador, and the west end of Ottawa, to make a difference.

My wife and I are going to ElSalvador next March to help monitor the elections.  We are going to pay to live in primitive surroundings because we think it may make a difference.

It is going to get much worse, and the economy only adds to the problems caused by global climate change.

Remember people, the earth doesn't need us, we need the earth!  We disappear and another life form just evolves and takes over.

Time to pull together and do something!

Sorry for the rant.
