Hi, I thought I would let people know that with Emerging Spirit coming to an end, I've accepted another job at The United Church of Canada.
Starting Jan. 1, 2011 I will move into the position of Web Content Strategist, working to help General Council programs and units use the Internet and social media to communicate their work more effectively. I am looking forward to this exciting role which marks a new step in the way the United Church engages on-line.

Aaron, job well done here at Wondercafe! And wishing you the best in your new endeavour. Wondercafe's loss is the UCC's gain within your new position of Web Content Strategist.

Blessed holiday season to you, too, Aaron, and all the best in your new position. Thanks for all you've done for WC, I for one will miss an Admin person who actually had a face and a name! Hope to see you 'round the Cafe.

Nice to hear those words about Wondercafe from Admin. I hope you'll be happy in your new job. Funny to think of myself as part of the voice or spirit of the United Church! ; )
I hope things don't change too much... Thank you for everything you've done Aaron. I look forward to chatting with you as a regular poster.

Congratulations and best wishes Aaron. I look forward to your future unAdmin postings.
You have indeed been one of the best Admins I have witnessed and I know it is not an easy task.

aah, Admin 2 aka Aaron
If we are a faith community, then you are the first minister of that community....a minister who provides the groundwork for us to explore our faith, a minister who gifts us, and does the quiet work to ensure those who are not well are cared for, sometimes at 2 in the morning, and through sleepless nights, a minister who also knows when to say something from the equivalent of the pulpit....
so, thank-you for your gifts to us....for helping us to find our way, to doing so much great work in so many ways for the united church of canada.
you are a blessing.
i am thankful for you.

You will be missed in your admin capacity here Aaron. You have shown wisdom, thoughtfulness, discretion, care, and integrity here. All you have done for wondercafe with logistics/operations and for the community as a whole has been greatly appreciated.
Best wishes in your new role.

Best wishes for the future, Aaron.
I'm afraid you could label me ageist. After the sensitive and thoughtful way you handled the Namaste incident, I had assumed you were much older.
I admit to being surprised to discover that the young handsome man at the Five Oaks picnic was you.

Congratulations on your new position! And thanks so much for all you have offered to this community. Pinga made the comparison of minister in your role here. I can see how that is suitable. However, I also consider you the "big brother" type of this sometimes dysfunctional family. The big brother sitting back and monitoring conversations, enjoying the discussion and occasionally stepping in when things are getting confusing or out-of-hand. Your advice and guidance has been knowledgable and caring. We have learned a lot from you. I feel lucky that we had the chance to meet you and your family a couple of times.
I'm relieved to hear that Aaron McGallegos will be continuing to visit wondercafe. I look forward to toasting you with a wondertini on January 1, 2011. We'll have to wait until then, since I'm sure you'd never drink on the job.
Cheers to you Aaron!

Well, well... I saw this briefly yesterday, but didn't have the right amount of time to read, ponder & respond.
I am thrilled for you - as much as I love the cafe, and as much as I worry about the enormity and possible impossibility of your new task, that is the right step. Our WC community is wonderful, but the call is to take it further, to give some of that magic where it is sorely needed. So much is changing in the UCC; in CHURCH in general, in Gen Council or Exec... Your gentle way and enthusiasm for new methods is perhaps the best chance for coaxing old expectations into eager acceptance of change.
I've been feeling a bit boxed in lately - the cafe has given me a taste for what engaged, inspiring dialogue is like, and yet I've felt the UCC has allowed us to be insular, allowed traditional church life to ramble on while being curious occasionally about the cafe. I want to see that move outside my laptop into my work interactions. How the decision-makers at UCC accept your experience & ideas will give us a valuable signpost as to the next 10 years. I'm anxious for more than we've had.
Congratulations Aaron, my friend, this is a big step, and you're the right one to do it.

Great thoughts, Birthstone.
At my church in RL, there is one small group ministry in place, and a couple of short term study groups with the minister per year. In these situations, the depth of the interaction is much like we have here at wondercafe.
Sometimes, I feel frustrated that more of the congregation is not involved.
On the other hand, there are folks who simply don't seem to need all this talking about matters of faith. I feel we also need to honour that somehow . . .
