Hi Folks, I'd like to encourage you to use tags when starting a thread. Tagging will eventually be a big benefit to all of us, as the list of them starts growing. They would especially be helpful to newcomers to WonderCafe because they give a quick glimpse into the most popular topics that people are talking about.
That's a view of the most popular tag list there in the right column, but because only a few people are using them I don't think it it really represents the content on WonderCafe yet.
To tag your threads, just add some keywords about the content in the "Tags" box just under the thread "Subject" box. Everybody uses their own tags for categorizing content, but eventually these will colagulate (ok, maybe not the right word, but you know what I mean!) into a working index of our conversations.
If anyone has questions about tagging, please let us know below in the comments.
Thanks!

It would appear politics is bigger than God here!

Is there a recommended maximum number of words per tag?

Are the tags supposed to replace the search function? I miss the search function, it might get better when the tags are used more, but what about old threads?

I can't believe "sex" didn't make the most popular list! We need to spice things up around here...

Sorry, I'm still new...what's this about tags? Is it when we start a thread?? I didn't realize that was a list of topics on WC in the right hand colum, then in one of the threads, some of you mentioned you check the popular threads first but I didn't know you could do that either...so I guess I'd like to know more...

Well that explains the word cloud thingy.
Aesthetically it bites bigtime. But it works like a search.
The big problem is the requirement of tags. The stuff in archives doesn't have tags and only discussion starters can edit tags.
I've used my discussion link to go into topics I have started and edit tags in. That will take an afternoon sometime. Everyone else will have to look into it for themselves I guess.
Grace and peace to you.
John

Any way you can set up your screen to go to the most recent posts rather than the first posts???

the original poster can go back and add tags later, i just did it, checked one of the words i used and there my topic is. Cool

lastpointe, click on the word "new" instead of the thread, and you will go to the most recent.

heh revjohn...most sites that have keywords still have search.
i'm surprised admin dropped it, and may be worth a feedback to say 'heh, what's up with that?'

Hi Lastpointe,
I tried it, too, and it worked!

Hi,
Yes, I just realized last night that the Search isn't back up yet. Sorry about that. Admins can still see it, so I think we forgot that it is disabled for the rest of you. Opps. I'll look into that asap.

Hi Jensamember,
I don't know if this helps, but the tags that are listed in a bigger font are those that occur most so far. You can use these to get a sense of what content is most popular on WonderCafe so far -- or at least since the relaunch in November, which is when we got the tags function.
Thanks,
Aaron (Admin2)

hah,
as always....if we don't report a problem, it can't be fixed. (the bane of a technical helpdesk)
thanks for whomever reported
