Time to 'fess up

What do you do if you are alone in the house (apartment) that you probably wouldn't do if someone else were there?

eg - I might lick the syrup off the plate after I eat a pancake.  I recently caught myself telling my grandson not to do this, but I know I do it sometimes if I'm eating alone.

lol I'm doing a very bad job of 'keeping the mystery alive'.  Chemguy sees pretty much everything.  Sometimes when he's out of town I don't bother to go downstairs to turn off all the lights.  I would do that when he's here too though, but he either does it or nags me to do it.

Reminds me of a song "Who are you when I'm not looking" sung by Blake Shelton

My oh my, you're so good-looking
Hold yourself together like a pair of bookends
But I've not tasted all your cooking
Who are you when I'm not looking?

Do you pour a little something on the rocks?
Slide down the hallway in your socks?
When you undress, do you leave a path?
Then sink to your nose in a bubble bath?

My oh my, you're so good-looking
Hold yourself together like a pair of bookends
But I've not tasted all your cooking
Who are you when I'm not looking?

I wanna know
I wanna know
I wanna know

Do you break things when you get mad?
Eat a box of chocolates 'cause you're feelin' bad?
Do you paint your toes 'cause you bite your nails?
Call up momma when all else fails?

Who are you when I'm not around?
When the door is locked and the shades are down?
Do you listen to your music quietly?
And when it feels just right, are you thinkin' of me?

I wanna know
I wanna know
I wanna know

My oh my, you're so good-looking
But who are you when I'm not looking?

Who am I when nobody is looking?

I'm the gal who is comfortable sitting around in my night-clothes until noon - or later.

I'm the gal who eats when I feel like it - not regular meals according to the clock.

I read a novel about a couple who's job was taking them to a remote island where the only other human contact would be a supply ship twice a year or so - and a month's vacation every two years.   An instruction book advised that, to maintain their sanity, they should follow a 'civilized' schedule - properly dressed at all times, regular meals served properly, regular times of rising and going to bed, etc.    I don't think I would have done well under these rules.  I probably would have relished the freedom to swim in the nude, eat when I was hungry, and stay up all night gazing at the stars.  Probably within six months I wouldn't be fit to return to civilization.

What I do when nobody is looking is what I am doing right now: sitting in front of my computer, unshaven and unkempt, in my housecoat, slurping a cup of coffee while reading, contemplating, or hitting the keys.

I couldn't and wouldn't do that in church. That's why wondercafe is such a handy spiritual community to me.wink

Yeh, I don't dress up to check into the WonderCafe.

Come on people - your partner is away for a few days.  Don't tell me that you aren't tempted to throw back the blankets when you get up and crawl back into the unmade bed at night - or leave your mug, plate and knife by the sink.    I do - and when my kids were at home, our rule was no one leaves the house without making their bed and doing the dishes.

And lights - Seelerman is always turning off lights.  When I'm alone I leave them on.  I also adjust the thermostat to where I like it.

What about double-dipping?   You're the only one eating celery and using the dip.  Don't tell me that you aren't tempted to double-dip.

I will read until very late, do the dishes once a wekk, and I seldom make my bed.

I eat chips right out of the bag instead of first putting them in a bowl.  I turn off all the lights and burn a candle in every room.

I don't make the bed.  It's better for allergies to dust mites not to, or at least to let it air out and then go back a while later and do it.  I'm not going back.

As for most other things, it just doesn't matter if Chemguy is here or not.  When I lived with my parents it was another story :)  I bet kids would make a difference too.

Sometimes... this is rather shameful... please don't let this get beyond Wondercafe... I watch TV-14 television programs.

Hi seeler,

Hmmmm.  Have to reach deep for this.

Eat pie with my hands.  Leave cupboard doors hanging open.  Not put the seat down.

Grace and peace to you.

When my wife was in hospital, I had NO DISHES TO WASH. I just used the same dishes day after day, and only rinsed them quickly after using them.

I am typing this in my housecoat.  If there is no one else home and no reason to dress - I  don't.  I eat what I want, when I want - sometimes real meals but often a piece of fruit now - some cheese and toast later - some yoghurt in a while - a bowl of soup later etc.I find myself reluctant to prepare food that gives me pots and pans to wash.

If there is a need to get up and out then I dress and go.

Not deliberately - but I wouldn't worry about grabbing a towel to answer the phone as I step out of the shower - or walking around my room while choosing my clothes.  Heck, I might even slip into the den and check WonderCafe.

(Seelerman is home now - I've been dressed since morning.  But it's almost time for jammies.

that was funny, crazy.

At work, if owrking late and alone,  I must admit to kicking off my shoes when I am working late and no one is there...also put on music (streaming) that I don't do when others are working.

At home, if no one is here, and I have a weekend to myself, I tend to just not shut doors.  I sometimes also curl up and just read, without feeling the need to do or be social...that's kinda nice for a change.  I think though, coz I spend so much time alone in hotels, that well, the aloneness and separation from others isnot a desired state as something rare.  I tend to go out and find people if my family is away for the weekend, or plan to have people in....so maybe that is it.  if my normal family members are out, then I do tend to invite my friends over for social times more.

No. Not often. All the closet doors are full length mirrors. :(
