I was laughing today bc I was trying to prepare materials for the Sunday School children, and my kitten (now cat) dove into the papers like they were piles of leaves. Papers were flying.

my nephews 2 & 5 playing with my kids 12 & 14. Goofy kids with a big park to play in, favourite people to climb on, and Buzz Lightyear Lego.

I guess I laughed at the amount of food that arrived at Seelergirl's home today. Yesterday her chemo treatment had her really down - barely strength to get from the bed to the chesterfield. And when I checked for something to heat for her supper I discovered that she was low on pre-prepared food.
The church has been offering, so I let them know that she could use some help and someone offered to take supper tonight. It arrived: chicken, potato salad, tossed salad, rolls, blueberry pie and a promise that someone else planned to drop by on Tuesday.
Also her son was at a sleepover at a friend's house. When he was dropped off at home, a big pot of chili came too.
Then a girl friend came with ham, salad, home made bread, etc.
People are so very good to us. The family will have some during the next few days and she can freeze the rest.
I think tomorrow I'll go out and stew some rhubarb. She has a big patch ready to be cut.
Joy and sorrow. Laughter and tears. But we thank God for the support of good friends and the abundance we have.

Seeler, that is a wonderful story. Glad you have a great support system for your family.
Hope your daughter is feeling better soon - chemo is pretty hard on people.
Prayers for all of you. Gek

I laughed at my six month old grandson feeding himself yogurt. He did make a mess, but also managed to get some in his mouth ... he just loves yogurt!

Great to hear of the church family helping out. It is as it should be. Blessings.
As for me, I am reading John Irving's first novel, 'Setting Free the Bears'. Even at age 25 he was a great writer and makes me laugh out loud. His sense of the absurd is just great.

Seeler, it is indeed good to hear that you and your daughter and family aren't alone. Hope as time goes on things for you daughter will improve.
I was giggling today at how much I've learned over the years. I was watching an old Rocky and Bullwinkle episode, that I can remember watching when I was about 5, and haven't seen since. This time through I noticed the wordplay. (same sort of thing happens when I see the old Batman series. Never realized then how ridiculous the whole thing was.)

I laughed tonight at the hockey game - it was either that or cry. My team just didn't come to play.

Great thread! Love the funny visions and audio (Birthstone)!
I took Busydaughter, her friend and her friend's Mom (who's my friend too!) into the city for a girl's day of shopping, and lunch out. When we were in Ardene (accessory shop) I put on a goofy animal print hat, strange glasses, a bright pink boa and a peacock pin and wandered up to them using my best Julia Child voice inquiring how I looked. We all laughed / maybe even snorted, though I'm not sure the salespeople were laughing as hard as we were.

I can almost see it, Busymim! All you would have needed were capris, socks and sandals, and the outfit would have been perfect! (just kidding...I think)

Love the stories. So many things to laugh at each day. And just neat to hear stories of people enjoying time together and connecting. Through photos too - Gecko I was looking at some funny pictures the other day of my nieces playing in a sprinkler when they were younger.
Seeler are you cheering for the Habs? I agree that laughter is the best response right now. Although still some hope with game 5 on Monday :-)

I went to walk dogs at the SPCA yesterday. One of my favourites had surgery on Wednesday and they let me walk him. The surgery was to his left hip. He was not using it to walk. He needed a pee and positioned himself against the fence so he would have had to put weight on his left leg, and lift his right leg. I tried to tell him it was not a good idea. Did he listen? NO. So, he soon learned the error of his ways and did a bit of a handstand to finish peeing. It was quite impressive actually. He is a corgi cross, probably with something like an Australian shepherd, so is smallish.
I also took a puppy for a walk. She needed some romp/play time, so I took her into the fenced area and watched her play in the snow. Yes, the snow on May 22. That was fun.
I went to the dog show that was being held in town, just to see a dog show. Well, I have never seen so many very clean, very groomed dogs in one place. Ever. It was quite a contrast from the shelter dogs, and also enjoyable.

Guest from Cuba visitng our congregation today. He once studied in Berlin. New to the city, knowing little of the language, he was standing on a street corner when a car drove up and the the driver rolled down the window and asked: "Can you tell me where I am?" Strange question, but he answered, "You are sitting in your car."
And the next question was: "Are you a theologian?"
"Yes. How did you know?"
"You gave me an intelligent answer to my question, but it didn't help me one bit."
I, along with the congregation, got a good laugh.

Yep - sounds like a dog with Aussie blood. We're big on originality, even when it comes to peeing.
Reminds me of the time I was in hospital with a broken leg after falling off my bike. They told me I was well enough to take the catheter thingie out. Always looking for something to worry about, I asked the nurse, "But what if I can't remember how to go?"
"You'll have no trouble - it's like riding a bike, once learnt, never forgotten." Mmm.
At night I needed the bedpan, which was brought to me by the male nurse. Trouble was, I still had my panties on under my nightie - and found I couldn't pull them down over my broken leg.
I rang the bell, and the nurse re-appeared.
"Finished?" he asked.
"Um, no. This is so embarrassing - would you mind pulling down my panties?"
He laughed. "Best offer I've had all day, love."

LOL Pilgrim. Yes, this little dog is an individual and a character. It will be good when he gets to be able to run freely again. He loves to run. He's also very smart.

I did a lovely kayak on the river that flows through our town this afternoon. I watched a great blue heron take cover in the reeds as four belgian horses came to the river to drink. The heron watched the horses from the safety of a log. The horses drank in turn, then one threw up it head, whinied, and the 4 horses bucked and galloped on their way back to the field. After the horses departed, the heron returned to its activity of fishing in the reeds. Herons are gracefully awkward creatures, and fun to watch.
A sharp-shinned hawk dived to the river and caught a fish. The hawk was immediately pursued by a group of blackbirds trying to chase it away, or take its fish.
Not hilariously funny, mind you, but the antics of animals and birds always make me smile.

LOL. Well, this is said dog:
While he is reasonably handsome in this picture, it really does not do him justice. He is far more handsome in person, even with the bald patch over his left hip. And.....they do say he is crossed with Australian Shepherd. He is very sweet. It is no wonder you identify with him!

Well. I purged my cupboards. CrazyDaughter is having a garage sale. Out went crystal, cut glass, and 6 big cardboard boxes of other assorted dishes.
CrazyDad came home and said "That cupboard looks empty." Yep hadn't had anything out of it for 15 years. He didn't even know it was that big and had shelves.
Made me laugh. Why do we have things take up space and never use them?

My apologies. I got tired last night and didn't have a chance to come back and read.
So catching up here. Just neat to read what people are sharing. A new friend for Pilgrim? Possibly a relative lol? OK I added that. Northwind the dog looks really sweet. And imagining him standing on his head to pee makes me laugh. Neat that you take the time to go and care for the dogs and pups.
Seeler I really enjoyed your story from church. And Gecko I think it would be amazing to be kayaking and to see all of the wildlife that you saw up close.
Best wishes to everyone.

Crazyheart I've been doing some spring sorting too. It's funny to see what we keep that we're not using. In my case clothing especially - so just donated a few big bags. And yup my closet is now so much bigger.

Anything that made you smile or laugh today?
I was smiling today thinking of my "little" niece (the youngest) who is now taller than me and finishing high school. Such a neat kid. Quirky sense of humour and a real march to the beat of your own drum kind of person. I've kept her letters and some funny photos over the years and am making up a grad package for her.

I was wondering what made people laugh today. Feel free to share something if you like.
That fact that I got lost in Mississauga for an hour today while dropping of a resume made me laugh (but not like, haha laugh). For the record, I did eventually find the school and was successful in delivering, in person, my cover letter and resume.

my kids make me laugh. They actually make up jokes and are beginning to play on language. I never expect it and my life has to procede so logically, that I forget to store the precioiusl moments and I can't relate even one of their witty things said, today, but there were at least 3 times, that really made me think how cool these kids are and how glad I am to see that something of my family's dry wit seems to have passed on in the DNA. Perhaps, it is poverty that makes folks that clever . . . not sure..

I'm thinking that Staples employees would find these particularly amusing. I'd like to get one for my Mom who is constantly using her 'Easy' button.

My oldest son, now married and a father to be, has always made me laugh from day one. He LOVES to eat (He's 6 foot 7 and trained in law enforcement but working in social work) and NOBODY touches his food. He was lamenting his sister in law 'stealing' his bran muffin, so much so he put it as a pouting comment on his facebook profile. It reminded me of his childhood when he would pile the food on his plate, and on one, but no one, stole his food - especially his younger brother!! Now, his wife and sister in law are 'stealing' his food. Some things never change.

CF - you could have called me - we could have cafe'd in person over an Iced-Cap!! Where is the school?
Southpaw - I knew someone like that only worse- he would get SO grumpy, that the rest of his buddies couldn't stop stealing his stuff, and then he'd storm off. Like a poorly trained puppy he was.
I laughed at ... um, not much... yet... well, maybe a couple of chuckles, but I've got youth group stuff tonight and I'm sure we'll be laughing at some point. I need a life!

I got to go out for coffee with 3 friends last night - and so we were laughing a fair bit. I don't remember anything in particular, but it was a nice break, lots of sharing about orthodontics, driver's training, cottages/vacations, work stress.
