Given that the founder is still under 30, that's not all that surprising. Youth rules in the social media world. Biz Stone who co-founded Twitter and is currently ramping up new social site called Jelly is 40 making him an old man in that world.

Ugh, I thought Parker and Zuckerberg were a bit older than that. I probably would have guessed around 5 years older for both.

I knew how old Zuck was (I think I came across it at the time of his wedding) but I thought Parker was older given his involvement with Napster.

Maybe those ages were accurate when the site was created, but they have not been updated as years have passed. I know that Mark Zuckerberg is older than me, so when I saw 27 listed on that website, I googled it. He's 29 now - born in 84.

Still, 27 or 29, it means these guys were billionaires or at least multimillionaires well before they hit 30. And Parker has like 3 or 4 companies under his belt, too. That's a lot to pack into a life. Realistically, hard work or not, they must enjoy it. Zuck had a chance to convert FB to a permanent ticket on the gravy train by selling out to Microsoft and turned it down, though MS did take a small stake.
I don't begrudge these guys their worth, either. They have worked for it and if society has overvalued that work, that's society's problem, not theirs. I much prefer rich people who work to ones who just inherit the wealth (and often, though not always, squander it). Zuck, at least, is putting a good chunk of it back into the community in various ways (eg. $100 million for the Newark, NJ school system and a donation of 18 million FB shares to a foundation in Silicon Valley). He was a signatory, along with Gates and Buffett, of the GIving Pledge which commits them to give half their wealth back to the community over time. Not sure how philanthropic Parker is.

Thanks Hilary! A year or two doesn't make a big difference when looking at someone's life, but when you look at someone who was so successful at a young age when you're around the same age it does make a difference :)
