Your favourite topic

Hi All,

Anniversaries give us an opportunity to look back over the year and note the good stuff as well as the bad.

I'm content to leave the bad stuff aside for a moment.

I'd rather focus on the positive stuff.

So . . . . when you peruse the "My Topics" link, which is all of the threads that you have personally started, what is your favourite?

Grace and peace to you.

John

RevJohn,

Hi,

You asked:

So . . . . when you peruse the "My Topics" link, which is all of the threads that you have personally started, what is your favourite?

Oh man! That's a tough question. I have so many excellent threads to choose from. Hmmmmmmm.

I think it might be "God's Love--Justice or Mercy" although one of the other two "God's Love" threads.

Thanks for asking though!

Grace and peace to you.

John

Hi RevJohn
Well I'm not sure it's my favourite topic, but "Guess The Question" made up in length what it lacked in substance, and that was one I started.

My favourite thread starter that I started was "It might surprise you to know that I...."

That was a fun thread and I learned lots about other posters.

My least favourite was the Pumpkin Pie thread in which I took a terrible beating. : )
People can be cruel to non-pumpkin-pie-loving-people.

My favourite topic that I started (not because it was popular) was "Values-Based and Beliefs-Based Christianity."...c

My favorite because it was most informative was "Who or what is the AntiChrist?"

But my other fave was ( and I don't know the title) was when women across this great country emptied their purses for all to see.

And of course the greatest laugh was "Between the sheets">

Well I liked ...

Research Team Finds Irrefutable Proof Jesus is NOT God!

because it got a huge response most of which was not too kooky ...

and I liked ...

I'm Bored

Because it was so amorphous in nature that it got all sorts of interesting responses.

Also liked "¦

abpenny ... did she actually exist ... has she really gone?
Posted In: Social | Posted On: Tue, Mar 13/07 11:48 pm

because it generated a lot of positive and fun responses (and incidentally might have been a factor in causing abpenny to pull back from the edge of the void ... also known as Alberta ... and come back to us).

I LOVED that thread!

Those were good times. Now it's much harder to find opportunities to hurl jokes at aotn.

My favourite topic was "Yoga and Christians". It got quite a few replies and people offered all sorts of insights. I learned a lot about yoga that I hadn't known before or wasn't fully aware of.

Heck I have only started two and one of them was today so I will have to say the Christmas symbols.

although the teenage daughter one got a lot of very insightful helpful caring thoughts. So I guess it is a toss up.

mine was 'the world is a better place now' because it introduced me to the thinking of indira and somegirl

i'd like to hear indira's self-favourite, so if you are out there, post away

i just went to qwerty's thread about abpenny and it was hilarious but too short--did she ever respond directly?

on the abpenney thread my recollection is that a few of her "wimmin" (thats how they say it in Alberta) friends were in touch with her by w-mail and trying to get her back but she wasn't coming. I gleaned thi9s much from the various posts around the site. abpenney didn't know me from Adam so I thought maybe I would make a post about her so she would know that a few of us out in the "general population" had noticed her absence and would like to see her back). As I recall I got a little w-mail talking about "ropin and ridin" out on the prairie and making some positive statement about her return. The rest as they say is history ...

Meltdown at Wondercafe.

This is where (egged on by two ministers) BethAnne and I were going to have a fight. I never thought Church could be so fun without getting into trouble.

My other favourite topic is where I found out that drinking was not a sin and I though MadMonk, RevJohn, and RevMatt were in a conspiracy to fool me about that.

I actually like most of the threads so it is hard to say which are my favourite.

"The Squirrel On Belonging" has been one of my favourites.

My first topic was...funniest things on the site...from last January...it still cracks me up when I think of Jeffery's reply to an ongoing nattering from Sylviac...Jeffery's final exasperation went like so....

Sylvia, you crazy @!$%?, are you calling me gay again? I'm not gay, not that there's anything wrong with that...

And btw qwerty...thanks for your thread...it was helpful!

One of my favourites was the "...The Monk Ascends the WonderMountain... ".

It didn't end with a lawyer terminating it on the Squirrel's behalf, but there was an odd smell of burnt fur in the air. In fact, I think I could say that I enjoy any thread that ends with the termination of a Squirrel.

Hard to say...

I too loved the "between the sheets thread". I also laughed hysterically during the thread that derailed to a croquet discussion.

In terms of threads I started that is harder.....

On a more serious note I suppose there are two threads where I shared some personal feelings of burnout and confusion. I was profoundly touched by the support and heartfelt postings from members of this community. So in many ways they are my favourite (of the threads that I started). Not because of the discussion so much but because they really demonstrated that wondercafe is a community that cares about its members. I felt supported and cared for...it was quite touching.

Oh, and the one that got a certain member banned.

I just checked 'my topics'. My favourites:

Drive Across Canada (Feb. 1st) and its update on June 15/07 - your replies helped me to plan our trip which my husband and I refer to as our 'trip of a lifetime'. Your invitations to drop in for coffee or to camp in your backyard were much appreciated even though we couldn't take you all up on them - my meeting with ABPenny was a highlight of the trip.

Athiesm - I learned a lot from this discussion

Care for the Bereaved (June 5) and Death of a Young Person (Aug. 29) brought me a lot of love and compassionate support when my nephew died and again when I had to conduct my first funeral for a young man that I had taught in Sunday School.

Thanks for all your support.

Some of the most favourite I have participated in are:
1. the monk ascends the wondermountain
2. The art show
3. Ye Olde Hunting Party
4. The Squirrel on Belonging
5. sacred spaces

favourite topics that I started are:

1. "ok, you strong silent types", where I received some excellent parenting tips, from RevJohn & others. The imagery of "think Alien", was quite helpful.

3. "Scenario 1: Coffeetime -- well meaning words of comfort on infant loss "
4. "hidden in the shadows of one's life"
