Well, the time draws near, little ol' me will be graduating and am looking into university. Now, unfortunately because the internet hates me I find what I want on say...the U of A site, then I can't find it again. So I have no real clue as to what courses U of A, or other albertan universities have to offer...
At one point I saw Islamic Studies, which really piqued my interest. I want to take Philosophy, Theology (religion), Islamic Studies (if I can find it again...lol), and perhaps Political Sciences.
If you told me I had to choose one...it would be Islamic Studies (if I could find it again! grrr!).
I am more than willing to drop political sciences and pick it up later.
I was wondering if any of you fine educated fellows could offer advice, anecdotes, hints, or just comment on how much they hate calgary/edmonton! lol.
I want to try and go to U of A because it's close to family in alberta and lots of friends. But U of C is cool too. I just want to stay in Alberta. Mostly because it's the closest to the NWT lol.
I will keep you updated on my progress lol.

Is it only fine educated "fellows" you are interested in hearing from?

Take up a trade such as plumbing or electrician.
You can feed yourself with that.

I know how you feel Omni I was there not long ago at all. To find the courses a University is offering you're wanting to look for their undergradute calendar
www.registrar.ualberta.ca/calendar/ is for U of A
www.ucalgary.ca/pubs/calendar/2008/index.htm is for U of C
They can be kinda confusing but keep at it.

Mad Monk!!! (Sorry -derailing the thread!) - How are ya?? Great to see you here again.
Omni- you have just stumbled on the *choke* wisest of all Wondercafers (stifling a giggle) - ask the Monk your question, and you will have much to ponder
Ok - back to the question - I enjoyed political science an awful lot, and it would be a wonderful complement to any of those other choices. I bet in the coming years, Islamic Studies & politics would be a wise combination. That being said, trades pay very well! And as the world agonizes over war & justice & finance, trades keep on putting food on the table & keep the world turning.

Your local library might have a copy of the universities' calendars. I find the hard copies much easier to follow than the on line versions.

I agree somegirl if you can find a hard copy rather than online version use that. Unfortunately I know a lot of Universities aren't doing as many hard copies since it costs a lot to print and it's easier for them to leave it online.
Use your school as well Omni, your VP or Guidence office should be able to help you as well.

You probably don't want advice from a tenth grader, but then I saw my only advice was the same as BethanyK's. Your VP or guidance office will be able to help you.
