Who would have thought it possible that right in Canada democracy could be assaulted so suddenly and so brazenly? We;re used to seeing this sort of thing in the developing world. Yet here we are: Stephen Harper lieing to the public, creating hysteria with rhetoric, and threatening to pervert democratic process, all for what? in order to hang on to his already tenuous minority government, elected by a mere 37.6% of Canadians.
apologies if notice of this event was posted previously, but this seems like an important event for congregations that have questions about their building, and let's face it, who doesn't?

‘In what ways is your church building helping your congregation's mission; in what ways is it hindering that mission?’
A new wondercafe group has been set up for working Christians to network.
I like this idea, because it's different for WonderCafe and also because bringing people together is always a good idea (where two or more are gathered...) but also because in the grim economic times ahead we are all going to need more than ever to trust and help each other. I'm thinking of it like a new sort of program. Could call it 20/20:
earn-have 20% less, give-help 20% more...
It's a formula that just might work.
I just came across this article at Virtue Online about how the political left-wing used to work with and through the Christian churches but really isn't anymore. I wonder if people here feel the same way.
Have we become so affluent (or co-opted by consumerism) that we don't have much to complain about, or fight for anymore?
If that's true, then what is the religious activism of the right-wing about?

Is religion a language? And like language, innate? ...
I just watched the Christmas animation bit, and its so good. What other religious group would use a sing song slogan like:...
Can anyone shed some light on what's happening to the United Church archives at Victoria College? Apparently Victoria College has reneged on their agreement to share the cost of running the archive....
Tomorrow I'm going to speak in church about my "faith journey." It's something we do at our church, a Sunday given over to the congregation....
I'm starting to feel like the root of the problem that this site is trying to address, which is really about attendance isn't it? is moot, over. ...
