The eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month is a time to remember. We remember the millions who have fought wars in our names. We remember the names of those who died fighting for their country. We remember the proud patriotism as people volunteered to fight for the cause of freedom. The sense of national identity that is forged in such difficult times.

A young minister from the city went to serve her first church in the country. On that first Sunday the congregation put on a luncheon to welcome their new minister. As the minister was welcoming people at the door, a woman asked “Where should I put my dainties?”
The minister was flabbergasted. “I beg your pardon? You brought your dainties?”
