BAPTIST on-line group

Who'd of thunk it!

I went on-line to see if I could find a Baptsit group comparable to Wondercafe.

Now Baptistlife.com is not as wonderful as w/c in the sections etc. or variety of topics, or number of women posters but what blew me aware was the attitudes.

One guy said "ever since I got kicked off that another chat group" for being pro-gay"

These are the "liberal" Baptists-their term and it sounds like they are truly lovely people.

I'm suprised and humbled.

One of the Best Baptist ministers out there (online, that is) is Darryl Dash.  I follow him on Twitter, and occasionally read his blog: http://www.dashhouse.com/

He is the pastor at Richview Baptist in the west end of Toronto (Etobicoke) and a person of strong faith and great humour.

He is indeed. He used to be my pastor. I went to Richview for about seven years.

On GLBTQ stuff, there is as much diversity within Baptist conventions and congregations as there is between UCC's.

Southern Baptist Convention is very firm and not LGBTQ positive)

American Baptist Churches USA has a wide variety in it, the convention is not that positive but some congregations are very.

National Baptist Covnvention USA also has no offical position, it is up to congregations)

Baptist Union Great Britain is the same, but is firm that LGBTQ people should not be discriminated agianst while saying they have room for those who believe it is wrong also and they should not be forced to compromise their beliefs.

Alliance of Baptists supports LGBTQ people and allows same-sex marriage.

There is also the Association of Welcoming and Affirming Baptists which has about 50 US churches in it.

I didn't read everything on the forum Pinga.

What I was delighted about was to see some diversity. Liberal baptists ! That expanded my preconceptions!
