Fastathon for World Accord, May 27-29 2011 Great Youth Group camo!

I have been going to this event since 1992, it's really great, it's relevant and there is little cost involved making it great for youth groups. Also, i appreciated it as the Director of Youth Ministry because unlike World vision, this is held at a campground so all you have to plan is transportation, plus there's buses.

About World Accord

For three decades World Accord has actively supported development activities with communities living in poverty in Latin America and Asia. Our philosophy of long-term partnership and empowerment provides local organizations and communities with resources and expertise they can use to create a better life.

World Accord presently supports community development activities in Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, India and Nepal. Our dynamic organization is always reaching out to new partners and new opportunities.

This year's event promises to be 'transformational'. There's still that fabulous Grand Prize to Central America, and this year we're unveiling an exciting video contest for participants. There's also more chances to win amazing prizes! All the details are below, but first:

Fastathon's 2011 Theme is: “NO DUMPING”--Emotionally, Physically, Ecologically or Spiritually. Inspired by David Pollay's “Law of the Garbage Truck”, (http://bewareofgarbagetrucks.com/wordpress/ ) we'll explore even deeper facets to make the world a better place.

Fastathon's 2011 Song is the very popular “Today I'm Gonna Try To Change the World” by Johnny Reid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2ACmJPhz3Q

A brief weekend schedule looks like this:
Friday: 7 pm arrival, grab your bunk, snack at 11 pm
Saturday: Workshops, activities, talent show, campfire, dance, movie—lots to keep your mind off your stomach.
Sunday: The fast breaks with an awesome banquet of riches.
(details on buses on website)

First things first, you have to register. Second things second, you need to raise some money. To get your registration form and official fundraising sheet go tohttp://www.worldaccord.org/index.php/events You can also learn how to set up a Canada Helps online giving page – easy for you and oh so easy for people to donate to your cause.

You only need to raise $75 to register. Not bad for an entire jam-packed weekend, is it?

There are SO many perks to raising more money—and first is the Grand Prize trip to Central America. The more money you raise the more tickets you will earn for the draw.
It works like this:

$75 registration fee automatically generates 1 ticket.
Raise it to $100 and you're up to 2 tickets.
Each additional $50 nets you another (1) ticket.
NEW THIS YEAR: If you bring a friend who's a first timer, you'll get 2 additional tickets.

AND NOW, DRUMROLL PLEASE.............................................................
