Chansen
Thanks so much.
If its malware I will contact Norton as I'm sure its their job to fix it. It doesn't appear on any other websites I've seen or that I'm aware of so far altho' I haven't been surfing a great deal except in India. Maybe I picked up some poop there.

Edit
The "bragging" I referred to above wasn't specifically about WC2. It was a reference to your character as I've observed your posts during your years here on the WC. It doesn't mean I hate you. Its just an observation perhaps in the same vein as you yourself have made observations about other people's characters on the WC.
(We are disrupting the thread, derailing, lets let it go. I have 4 yrs. repair service paid up with Dell plus warranty so I'm not too worried should I have malware. Its a new puter. I'm going to phone them. )

Hey, if you're gonna claim I'm bragging on the forums, then use a completely laughable accusation to illustrate your point, don't let me stop you. Please, continue.

I know you always want "proof" and you know I'm always too lazy to search the archives to provide it. So it goes....
My electricity is blinking at the moment, a storm or possible tornado is on the way. I'm going to turn off the puter.

Hi InannaWhimsey
You are such a gas........funny. It was really wild here for awhile. I was on the balcony holding an umbrella and hoping to do a Mary Poppins " up up and away". Alas it didn't happen.
The tornado was about 60 miles or so north of here in Angus. My daughter and grandson were caught driving in the middle of the storm going home to Barrie about 60 miles north. They had to pull over and wait awhile but they arrived home safely. I don't know if there's any damage done in Barrie.

The cheapest good one is Avast or AVG. Free, and pretty damn good compared to the paid ones. I prefer Kaspersky because it's usually good about avoiding false positives, and it removes a lot of malware. I have a bad history with Norton, though they did improve, supposedly. Now they've pulled out of tests.
My brother in law is one of the head computer technicians for the Law Society of Upper Canada. He eats, sleeps and dreams computers. Builds them in his spare time. AVG is his recommended anti-virus provider ahead of Norton, McAfee or anyone else. On computers - I listen to him. And you'd like him, chansen - he's an atheist!

Everyone assumes that I have something in common with other atheists. I really don't. Not believing in something is no a thing to have in common. Talking atheism with atheists is the worst thing in the world besides hanging wallpaper.
And McAfee is easily the worst AV in the universe. I can't believe they still exist, except I think it's still bundled on some PCs.
And yeah, most IT guys like AVG for free AV. I prefer Avast. Both work, and are just missing a few bells and whistles compared to the paid versions.

Another AVG fan here (though we use Symantec Corporate at work because, while it's basically gussied up Norton, it allows to manage all our A-V from a central console).

Hi Chansen ( and Pinga)
My apology for upsetting the apple cart and yourself yesterday when I beheld an odd looking (malware) sight on WC2. You freaked out and so did I. Don't ask me why or how it didn't appear elsewhere on my puter in other websites but it simply didn't.
I tracked it down today. It isn't the fault of WC2 in any way, shape, or form. As Chansen suggested I believe it was MALWARE ON MY PUTER , not malware or a virus on WC2.
I haven't experienced this before so I really didn't know or understand what it was. I was not intentionally seeking to cause problems on the WC2.
I worked to solve the problem today. It appears to have been caused by a program titled "Search Protect" in my puter which has since been deleted. I had googled that program at an earlier date and I didn't perceive any risks. I'm not sure how it got installed orginally.
So sorry.................I'll do my best not to be the source or the cause of any future heart attacks for Admin. related to WC2.

Stardust, no freaking out by admins. It was pretty obvious to us based on your message where the problem was.
