I'm after a printed prayer I found and used for worhip in the spring. It's in the hymns part of voices united (not the back part0
It's kind of/sort of a paraphrase of the Lord's prayer-similar sentimeents-but it talks about WATER
I acan't find it in the index of prayers-they are too vague
Anyone know this prayer and could tell me the number of it?

It's number 645
God our Mother,
Living Water,
River of Mercy,
Source of Life,
in whom we live
and move
and have our being,
who quenches our thirst,
refreshes our weariness,
bathes
and washes
and cleanses our wounds,
be for us always
a fountain of life,
and for all the world
a river of hope
springing up in the midst
of the deserts of despair.
Honour and blessing,
glory and praise
to You forever. Amen.

It's very beautiful . . . I had never encountered it before, either.

Very nice. There are a lot of nice prayers in this book. Too bad they are almost impossible to find.

I agree with you Musicsooths. I usually come across these prayers by chance, and I have often wished they were all in one section of the book.

All teh prayers are listed together in one of the indicies. And it was entirely intentional to NOT put them all together but with hymns of a similar theme.

When dealing with a book like that I tend to be very fond of having my own copy and a large supply of those little page marker stickies, I color code by topic and sometimes write on the flag a notes as to what is marked. I'm also not above making notes on the inside of the cover or flyleaf on the location of favored bits if the index leaves a bit to be desired.
The prayer itself is lovely. Very graceful.

I wonder if there's an electronic copy of it somewhere.
I prefer paper versions of spiritual textual material myself, but an electronic version is much easier to search.

There is VU software that is fully indexed and searchable. It works under all versions of Windows, including Windows 7, although it was designed for Windows 95! You can not print anything from it, however, for copyright reasons.

Thanks everybody.
I had stumbled upon it by chance this spring. I used it to conclude the congregational prayer-the congregation said it with me. It was a service lead by the "Waterwomen'. I co-lead a canoe trip every year for interested women in the congregation. About a dozen come each year.
Alas I dodn't make permanet note of the number.
Pleased to have this to take with us this weeknd as it will fit in well with our short Sunday morning reflection time.
W/Cers You are great!
