Dear Cancer,
You are part of life's dance, an alchemical transformation of us into tumours.
So even as you convert my mother into more of you, you are a part of me and it looks like you will always be.
I am here because things that came before me have passed on. I was born in the remains of a blown up star that, over time, collected and formed into the Earth. Because life did genocide other life with the result of oxygen-breathing life becoming dominant. Because previous civilizations have survived other civilizations. Because the natives were displaced by the people who came to Canada. Because ideas have come, been tested, and passed on. And so on and on...
And still it is too soon to be able to tell if any of this is a 'good thing', whether animals are a good thing, or multicellular life, or Earth, or Canada, or Democracy, or having a brain...
Thank you for showing me again that the only permanent thing is impermanence. That everything arises, exists for moments, and then passes on.

She's on 2 drugs, one that is so new it's wikipedia entry is castrato. The other is Rosiglitazone, to study its effects on the 1st drug.
The side effects are 'interesting'. Some of her meditation sessions have frightened her out of them.

Thanks for posting this video, Inanna. It has given me quite a bit of information as to how cancer may fit into the scheme of things.
It is only by accident that I happened to click on the video. Is there a related thread that led to your posting it? It just seems to have come up on my window out of the blue.

Well, she's off the designer drug Regorafenib & has stopped the program due to unpleasant side effects. The only other person in her group is being treated for liver damage (due to the treatment).
She was losing 1 #/week for a bit there, which is scary, but I think I've convinced her to start eating high calorie food like potato chips. Either way, her weight loss has stopped. So that's good.
It's something that has been waiting in me brain. I have a long list of potential writings in my brain; some never make it to see the dark of night :3

I'm so sorry to hear about this, Whimsey. I will keep you both in my prayers.
