Greetings
Greetings, Question: After many years of purposly repressing memories of life, and excellently trained to do so, have i compromised my future. In the sense that now that life is better, i cant stop repressing all but the most crucial of things :L Is there treatment for this, home made or professional? Any tricks to eliminate this?

Hi whitetigerqq - welcome to wondercafe. You've jumped in with a big question. Let me see if I understand what you're saying ... Life was very difficult & you learned to use repression as a means of dealing with what was happening. Now your life has improved & you're curious about how to allow yourself to experience & enjoy/savour things more, rather than continuing to repress your feelings?

...or perhaps you're able to suppress all but a few things which are niggling at you now?

seriously look at hypnosis - somewhat indirect but personal experience with this - amazing help is available.

for me, i could repress all i want, but the problem was that those memories WILL come out sometime. unfortunatley, they may come out at a time when you are least prepared to deal with them... the very worst of mine emerged fully formed right after my wedding, and my husband was very frightened by them. i went from happy new bride to despondent crying mess curled up in a fetal position on the floor saying 'daddy, don't...'
i'd recommend seeing a well trained and trusted therapist ASAP and deal with them on your own terms, rather than whenever they bubble up.
