I have just finished reading Still Alice. This novel is about Alice, 50ish, a PhD in Linguists at Harvard. She is diagnosed with Early Onset Alzeimers disease.
Both my mother and mother in law had Alzeimers. I think this is a wonderful book and a "must read" for families who have this disease.
Please give it a try.

Thanks, lastpointe. I checked with our public library, they do not have it yet. I will keep checking. At this point no family members with Alzeimers that I know of, but sounds like an interesting read. I think I saw this woman/book on Oprah once.

I loved Away From Her! It reminded me of my parents. Also made me want to try cross country skiing.

I also just finished reading Still Alice. It was a good, fast read that I demolished in a day. I have some experience with Alzeimers having worked in a retirement home for several years, but this story was a great insight into what the family all has to go through. Although I had difficulty relating to and approving of his emotions, I really appreciated the character of her troubled and distanced husband.
Thanks for suggesting this, lastpointe.

My mom had alzeimers and reading this I could see how she might have thought. Happy to see us and knowing we are related but puzzled too.
