Well as I have mentioned before, I am the parent of teens...ok, well one 'offical' adult...anyway, I know our kids grow up and such and I realized what it is I miss about them being little...there are obvious things I don't miss! lol!
I have always been a 'get on the floor and play' kinda mom...very much hands on...we played in the mud together...I know it's why we are so close now...
I have 9 neices and nephews ranging from 23 to newborn...my sister has a 3yr old step daughter...we always get together at birthdays, Easter, New Years...for no reason...lol...and we celebrated my moms birthday yesterday...the little girl was so glad that when she brought me a book to read I let her on my lap and used funny voices to read...we read about 10 books!!! I loved it!!
It reminded me how when I visited a friend who had 4 children one who had autism, they would be so excited to see me!! They knew we would play and dance and be silly!!...that is what changed as my kids grew...I try to be silly and dance and play...not so cool when they are older!!! lol!! Who knows, in a few years they won't care what others think again!! lol!!

Likewise jensamember - I so miss those story telling, imagination times with younger kids. If there are little kids at a party or event, I will inevitably end up spending some time with them in interesting conversation!

......and if there aren't any kids, I'd rather be with the pets.
You sound like just the kind of mum I was -- a big kid myself. I enjoyed my son's childhood far more than I did my own.

Umm ... thanks professor Beshpin Speaking for myself, but probably also for others here, I do recognize that kids change as they grow up ... and so do parents. Doesn't mean we can't fondly look back on the fun times we shared with them. I think that's all this thread is about.

I love that aspect of spending time with children. Sadly, there are not many of those moments available anymore... The only child we see with any regularity is getting to old to "act weird".
I am lucky though that my wife fell in love with that goofy, big kid side of me (climbing a tree on a first date gives it away) and we are goofy and have fun together. It might be tickling, snowball fights, jumping in a mudpuddle, pillow fights, using funny voices.... There is a bit of a romantic aspect to it sometimes when it is two adults <veg>
One of the elderly ladies in our church who struggled with the idea of us, one day came up to me and said "I think I understand. I would love to live with you, you two must laugh all day".
We do. We have laughed so hard there are bellyaches or tears running or someone is snorting or racing to the washroom and I have heard "stop, I need my inhaler!"

Love the stories!! I am looking forward to all those things...the new exciting relationship, the kids coming around to realize I am a fun girl!...and of course, being a grandma one day!...one day...is the far far future...or until Joe Jonas see's how cute my daughter is! lol!
