A long while back, we had threads on female and, I think, male singers. I can't find them anymore, so I'm just starting a new one for posting beautiful singing voices. Why? Because I'm in love with Kiran Ahluwalia and want to share the beauty of her singing. For those not in the know, she's Canadian of South Asian origin who turned her back on a business career (she has an MBA from Dal) to sing South Asian music. But this isn't your standard Bollywood fare. Kiran blends in Western influences and on her latest album worked with two bands from Africa. Just heard her twice on Canada Live, once on her own and once in a songwriters' circle during the Juno celebrations in Ottawa.
Enjoy!

The song that first got me interested in Kiran:
And one more for good measure:

Alas Kiran is also married so it is never to be.
I meant that I love her SINGING! I worded that rather dangerously, didn't I? But she is pretty cute, eh?

I'm at work but I'll have to listen to your Blackmore's Night videos later, Witch. Never heard of them. McKennitt I've liked since I first heard her back in the eighties.

Azam Ali singing. From Iran. This song seems more Indian. I dig this. Gotta get a cd sometime. We have three other albums which feature her.

This is under the band name Niyaz. She also has solo albums, and albums with a British guy under the band name Vas, which is lovely, soothing, mostly classical Arabic themed music. It's all gorgeous, but Niyaz seems to be the most upbeat and ethnic of her projects. Glad you liked her! She's awesome. I just love her voice. Her solo albums she sings in a variety of languages and songs from different cultures. Very talented lady!

For Mendalla.... not strictly a beautiful voice as such, but I'm sure you'll appreciate it.
