If you were attending a summer hymn sing, what would get your feet tapping, move your spirit, make you feel the Presence?
I post this because I heard a group sing "Sunny Side"the other day and smiled the whole way through. A friend came in to church the other day singing "O Happy Day" and then I heard a woman in the grocery store softly singing "Down By the Riverside"....
I have just finished putting together a Youtube playlist of my favorite female vocalists, chosen by the quality of their singing, to my ears. For example I enjoy Bjork but I do not think she is an exceptional singer, also a lot of people think Maria Callas is a most wonderful and exceptional singer, but her singing does not appeal to me.
I would be honoured and very pleased if you would care to have a look at my list and leave your comments here.
I, personally, am not a fan of justin beiber. I personally don't like his singing, and I don't like the fact that he acts like he is the love master... and don't even get me started on fangirls... but anyways, as much as I don't like him, I get really pissed of at the people who say, very seriously, that they would enjoy killing the teen pop sensation. if this internet troll was given a gun and justin beiber, I highly doubt that they would actually have the balls to do it...
We use to gather around the piano and sing. My girlfriend's dad played piano in a Dixieland Band. he would play and we would sing. We sang when a group got together,We sang on sleighrides and hayrides.
Why don't we do this any more?
As many homes don't have pianos, I know but it seems to be a lost activity and our kids don't know any of the old songs.
I know familes play Rock Band but it is not the same.
What can we do.? Or is it just a lost art?
Are choir gowns nesessary?
Do they help you sing better?
Are they a power symbol?
