My new earworm

Can't get "Pumped up Kicks" by Foster the People out of my head. It's a catchy, infectious little pop song getting fairly high rotation on some stations. I liked this fan-made video better than the official one:

Anyone else got a song they can't get out of their heads?

By the way, catchy and infectious as it is, the material is actually fairly dark. See the composition section in the Wiki article on it.

Cult of Personality by Living Colour.

Wow, Tyson, haven't heard that one in a very long time. I remember when Living Colour was "The Next Big Thing". Lasted, at least as a major band, about one, maybe 2, albums.

MY 10 (nearly 11) year-old grand-daughter sings this song:

WARNING... it's a serious head-trap. And carries a violence rating...

"Pumped Up Kicks" is catchy but I don't like the lyrics either :(

I've had a song in my head since a soccer trip back in high school (1997).  Finally last weekend I hit a yard sale where everything was free so I grabbed a couple of mix CDs in hopes of finding the ear worm and JACK POT!

How do I insert the Youtube video?

I have one more in my head since the early 2000s.

All I can say is that when the man sings the chorus, he goes something like:

"heyba hoba haba heba hayba hoba" and so on.  People have no idea what I'm talking about :(

Do you guys?

Actually, I think that I know the one that you mean. Don't know the title or the group, but I'm hearing the song in my head right now.

The video posting method that works for me (there may be other ways since the upgrades) is:

- Get the video up on Youtube

- click Share

- click Embed

- Check "Use Old Embed Code" (the fourth checkbox and choose a size (480x360 or smaller works best on Wondercafe)

- Copy the embed code (contents of the text box above the checkboxes)

- start your post on WC

- Change to plain text editor

- paste the embed code into the message

- Switch back to rich text to add/edit comments

- Save

Here's your video:

Wow thanks Mendalla: that sure is a lot of work though: ha ha.

Sorry about your new ear worm :(

I've had a terrible earworm since last week. A song with totally empty lyrics pretty much saying when life's down go out and get drunk. It from a video I've seen/ heard a few times since then. I think because my boyfriend watches something when he gets home from work and whatever station he leaves the TV set to is on when I turn it on...often during some video countdown show.

It's an awful song but it's catchy and it's stuck in my head. I think it's the Caribbean accent she uses in some spots in the song that draws me in (I love the sound of Caribbean accents). Don't listen if you don't have a good cure for earworms.

Loved em then and still love em now. Living Colour is a very under-rated band. Tons of talent and little recognition. Cult of Personality is imo, one of the best rock songs ever. Once you hear the opening riff, you know what band is playing.  yes

I remember when they were big... and if I remember correctly, they were one of the first all black metal bands...it was talked about then..they were breaking stereotypes. I had a friend who was a huge fan.

When I'm making a slideshow, I have the song in my head until I finish (a couple days), and thereafter till I get hooked on the next one. I mull the song over, think of suitable images, review my selections so far... But it's totaly pleasant!

That's one that really should be an earworm for me and I wish it was. I like it better than a lot of the songs that do earworm me. Recently, I've been having a bad attack of the Star Wars theme as I watch the first season of the Star Wars : The Clone Wars TV show on DVD.

New earworm: Kenny Loggins' hit "Footloose" from the movie of the same name. I've already posted the original video in the eighties thread so won't repost here. My son saw the stage musical adaptation of Footloose last week and is seeing the remake of the movie next week (part of his school drama and dance program) so it's kind of come back into my consciousness (I was starting university when the original movie came out).

That was a good movie. I didn't know they'd done a remake. I shall have to see it.

Comes out October 14. Here is the IMDB for it:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1068242/

Somehow, Dennis Quaid doesn't feel right for the Rev. (was John Lithgow in the original). Ditto Andie MacDowell as his wife. I'm not familiar with the actors playing Ren and Ariel so can't comment on that casting.

I think it was Kevin Bacon's well known role and star movie (and Lori Singer was great too) . . . it will be hard to accept someone "new" in the role smiley.

Yeah Kevin was great. He was also great in Flatliners, and She's Having a Baby. It's funny I used to think that film would be naff till I saw it, and was glad I did. I saw it only about 5 years ago for the first time. Better late than never! The dance theme hooked me.

I hope it comes to our little theater.  Thanks for the link Mendalla, $30,000,000 !!! It boggles the mind how much it costs to make a movie...

Here's the new version of the theme song from "Footloose". Not really a major change. Just a bit more country-inflected (the artist is country singer Blake Shelton).

And here's the new "Holding out for a hero" (by 15 year-old Ella Mae Bowen) which I rather like even if it is quite different from the Bonnie Tyler original. To me, this stripped down, almost folkie, version points up just how overdone and over-produced Tyler's version was (and, to be clear, I like Bonnie Tyler) and that the song can actually stand on its own without all that. Little Mendalla doesn't like it, though.

Sorry, this is off-topic.

I'm copying the code directly but it's not showing up.  Anyone know what might be wrong with it?  looks like this: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/YgSPaXgAdzE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Did you check the Use Old Embed Code option? I find that the old embed codes work here. Not so much the new ones. I gave Sterton some instruction on embedding higher up the thread. Give what I told him a try.

"I believe..lala-lala-la...I believe..lala-la-la..."

Aaah!!! Help!!! I find myself singing it out loud spontaneously, whislting it in the bathtub, down the street, everywhere...I need a new tune..

I remember this from the Vancouver Olympics...same earworm then..so it took really quickly this time. I thought they would have picked a new jingle (don't they usually change it?) What are the rest of the words?

That's definitely an earworm for me too Kimmio! I think it goes something like this:

I believe the time is right now,

To stand tall and make the world proud,

I believe together we can fly,

I believe in the power of you and I.

I know there's more, but that's the part I always sing to myself.
