Okay, now I'm sure that there are many people out there who are celebrating the engagement of Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger. It's cute that they have a mingled nickname (Chavril), like other great celeb couples (e.g. Brangelina). But, dear God, even the Globe's now had two (maybe three) stories on this including a blog on "What other Canadian musicians should be a couple?". It merits one line in an entertainment news column, not multiple stories and an interactive blog.
Ape no like celebrity culture :(

Cute - but definitely not newsworthy!
Perhaps the reception band will be some hybrid of Nickelback and Avril Lavigne's backup band??? I imagine their wedding and reception will be quite non-traditional!

It is a measure of our society that most people don't know their next door neighbour's name, but they want to know every detail of the life of some celebrity who lives thousands of miles away and worlds apart.

Did you know Miley got a haircut? Probably, that's old news already.
I suppose non-news is better than incorrect news, which seems to be more frequent than it used to be to me.
