*giggle*  It reminds me of some of the cartoons I used to do in college, I'd scribble cartoon characters who would become "self aware" and question their existence and then start trying to get "free" of the comic frames and perhaps even talk to me :3

I <3 the internet.

If you get a chance to, check out "The Coyote Gospel" by Grant Morrison.

Set up straw men - knock straw men down.  Rather juvenile in my opinion.

I can imagine the 8 to 10 year old kids in my former Sunday School class laughing their heads off at this strange picture of God.

What straw man?  I can point you to plenty of people who believe in a "God" like that one.

Edward Currant is hilarious, and uses humour to cut religion down to size.

Seeler, just because you might not be accurately represented by that "God", that doesn't make it a strawman.  Until part-way through the video, I thought it was just a dumb stab at atheists.  I'd seen far, far worse, after all.

If we had no language or books or silly cartoons to say "there is no God", there would be no argument. It would be obvious that God exists. We would be more in tune with the explicit detail of creation, unable to deny that existence "is" and that the way the universe continues is not dependent on us naming the laws of nature or the universe. It is dependent more on our acceptance and us working within a framework that we exist in. We cannot escape that which we were born into and knowing this IS all powerful. We humbly accept that we are not the power that governs this universe or the force that continues to keep it's balance. Why shouldn't we stand in awe and shout or whisper, "this is amazing" and feel humbled by it all? THIS is God.

God is not a little man sitting in the sky, or limited by the pages of the bible. God is greater than that. God becomes small as soon as we use words or the written language to describe it. This is profoundly demonstrated with this cartoon, which is using a very low form of language communication to attempt to dismantle a very complex existence.

Waterfall, this video (like Monty Python's Life of Brian) isn't making fun of God or even of all beliefs about God. It's poking fun at one extreme but unfortunately rather common belief about God: that God is a judgemental, exclusivist tribal deity with Christian (or other) believers of a particular sort as the tribe. It isn't just a Christian issue, either. There are Jews and Muslims who follow this sort of God as well. Alas, some atheists (but mercifully not all) think that attacking this particular belief about God can undermine belief in God as a whole, rather than siding with those Christians who also oppose the use of God in this way.

Personally, I was ROTFL at this, although it's not that original. I've seen similar satires in the past.

Don't worry Mandella I haven't lost my sense of humour (it was funny), but at the same time, the continued attempts of atheism to demoralize theists has me a little concerned.

How many times should we just laugh and move on without giving a response that the post seems to be begging for?

The existence or non-existence of God hinges on how we define "God."

Many of us who belive that God exists no longer define "God" as the authoritarian Zeus-type God of old but as the creative power or force of the universe. Atheists or anti-theist trying to disprove the outdated authoritarian God of an outdated authoritarian religion don't realize that many religious or spiritual people no longer believe in this type of God. If this is the only possible definition of God, then I, too, am an atheist: an atheist who has met God.

An atheist meets God.

"I thought you didn't exists!" exclaims the atheist incredulously.

"If you exist, I do," answers God.

Mendalla,

I think that waterfall is choosing to write here like a stereotypical military anti-theist, especially her last bit "How many times should we just laugh and move on without giving a response that the post seems to be begging for?"

But more seriously here, I think one of the big things aboot the current Neo 'anti-theist' movement is (and kudos to SunWarrior for pointing this out) that atheists, especially in the US, share a lot with Women & Homosexuals &, in the US 'blacks'; they don't have the privilege that Christians have, so they have to work harder and are treated differently.  So I think it is behooven for Christians to recognize their privilege (I can't believe I'm writing aboot this :3)

Just for the record, I'll post my thoughts on it now. At first I thought it was making fun of atheists, then I thought it was making fun of Christians - in reality I think it was making light-hearted fun of both.

I thought it was brilliant!

But then I don't believe in an all powerful God in the sense that a lot of folk do either.

Jesus showed us a new way to interpret God's power - a God of love rather than a God of control.

Too often, IMO, we attribute power with the ability to control situations. This interpretation of God sees God like a human dictator or puppet master - it's very much a case of man seeing God according to man's definition of power.

Thus, we have endless discussions on "why did God allow this flood/ famine/massacre to occur? Why didn't he step in and control the situation?"

Well, just maybe God doesn't have that sort of power?

Maybe God's power lies in being available to offer compassion and love to those who suffer?

Some would say, "what's good about that, I require a lot more?"

And I would answer, He was there for me when I most needed Him - and that power is priceless.

Without sound, the choice of YouTube advertisers set off my situational irony meter ....

Christian Singles: "Find Your Christian Soul Mate Here" ....

Strongest Prayer Requests: "Need Prayer?  ... (bonus ironic points, considering Edward Current's Prayer Amplifier)

Chinese Lady for Dating:  9000+ Chinese Women await love....

Coincidence, I think not ;-)

I found a machine with sound, I watched, listened and yes, I laughed, but the Prayer Amplifier is funnier, IMHO....

Edward Current: "I've Converted To EVERY Religion (just incase)".

It is humorous to note that many viewers, both theists and atheists, take his videos seriously - to the point of atheist channels attacking the arguments and christian ones using them as "reliable" sources. As a result, EdwardCurrent now explicitly states that each video is a parody.
