Has anyone read Gale Haggard's book "Why I Stayed"?
They did many interviews together as a couple, like on Oprah. Gayle also did an amazing radio interview on Rosie O'Donnell's SIRIUS XM "Rosie Radio".
Wondering what people think?

No, I did not. I imagine that when you open the cover, the only words inside are, "Because I am gullible and I have no self-esteem."

What about "I truly love the person that I married"?

Same thing, different words.
First of all, Ted Haggard is gay, which doesn't lend itself well towards a monogamous heterosexual marriage. Second, he is a monumental hypocrite and a liar. Perhaps she can see past all that, and forgive, so I refer you back to the first sentence in this paragraph.
In fact, she may be quite savvy. She has a book out, and Pastor Ted is holding increasingly large "prayer meetings" in his barn. It's all a show, as it has always been, but perhaps that's the part of him she loves? Is the entire "marriage" as much of a sham as the preachings are? I don't know.

In my opinion, sexuality is not black or white... there are many grey areas. If you are gay, chansen, then you might know that only you can determine your own sexuality.
As far as love, marriage and manogamy are concerned, aren't these guidelines that each couple must set for themselves?

Fine, Ted may not be 100% gay. He simply enjoys having sex with men. He enjoys it more while high on meth. He now claims to be "heterosexual with issues."
Closer to the truth is probably the following passage, delivered in the wake of the news about his homosexual flings and meth use:
Ted Haggard is part showman and part con man. Perhaps he is continuing to con his wife. We may never know. Let's hope she does.

I am enjoying your comments on this issue, because I think many people will share your opinion.
I do also think that you tend to generalize on a large scale when it comes to "labelling others", but as I said, I think many share your opinion in the case of Ted Haggard.
One thing that I did find to be pretty amazing from Gayle Haggard's one hour sit-down Sirius Radio Interview with Rosie O'Donnell, was that Gayle explained how her family was 100% banished from their New Life church following the scandal. Rosie then shared with Gayle, that like her family, GLBT people for years have also been banished from their churches, simply for being gay.
It was following this pivotal point in the interview, that Gayle openly showed emotion, and was exposed.
It goes to show what a sincere dialogue can accomplish.

I've always said, if you can't trust answers from a Rosie O'Donnell interview on Sirius Radio, what can you trust?
A good tearful dialogue can also be a snow job. I wouldn't bet on the sincerity of the Haggards at this, or any other point.

So can a dialogue with an atheist.

I'm not attempting to decieve you at all, and I'm not even sure why you would write that, except maybe you're trying to make a point that is failing badly. I have no reason to decieve you about my position on this "fallen" evangelical leader.
The Haggards have no choice but to suddenly be "inclusive" toward GLBT people. It's their only hope. That they are suddenly concerned about GLBT people is a perfect example of "too little, too late."

The radio interview was an authentic and truthful discussion... I listened to it, did you?
You imply that YOU are the ONLY authority that can decipher authenticity over a snow job. What are your qualifications?

I'm not saying it couldn't have been sincere. You're the only one here to claim the ability to determine what is "authentic and truthful". I happen to harbour the suspicion that Ted is a bald-faced liar, and I doubt that Gayle is much better. As I wrote above, I simply would not bet on the sincerity of the Haggards at this, or any other point.

Have you ever gone through an experience in your life that you may not be so proud of, and purposefully made changes to improve yourself as a person?

Sorry. Too little, too late.

It is NEVER too late. WE are all human beings, and even though you think so Chansen, people should not be discarded like trash.

I'm not discarding the Haggards. I don't even have the ability. I just think Ted is a liar and was the head of a gay-bashing evangelical group, and she was at his side through that.
She can forgive him, and he can repent all he wants, but I and a lot of other people just aren't interested. On top of all the above reasons, he has attempted to call himself "cured" of his homosexual tendencies. I wish there was a hell for him to go to.

Sadly, there probably isn't a hell for us to meet in. If you see him in this life, give the fraud my regards.
