Will Progressive Christianity Cause the World to End?

Radio evangelist Harold Camping, who announced that the Rapture would occur Saturday May 21st, has had another revelation: He says that the world will now end on October 21st. Camping says God held off on Saturday out of mercy: God did not want humankind to suffer for five months, but nevertheless, God was here on earth, spiritually.
Is it just a co-incidence that The Canadian Centre for Progressive Christianity is hosting a major conference in London Ontario on October 21 to 23, 2011, the very weekend that Camping claims God will destroy the world?

Not only will the notorious Gretta Vosper be one of the conference keynote speakers, but also Ian Lawton (who gained much notoriety for removing the cross from his church last year). To top it off, John Shelby Spong will be preaching, and lecturing in the same building, and on the same weekend as the CCPC conference!
Is it just a co-incidence that these 3 iconic figures of the Progressive Christianity movement will be in London at the same time that God may be destroying the Earth? Because the conference opens on this "Day of Judgement", do you think that the CCPC should cancel the conference and refund everyone's registration fees? Or should the conference continue anyway because "Progressives" would probably NOT be part of the 3% who will be raptured up to heaven on October 21st. Thus the conference could still go ahead as planned (as long as the attendees can survive for the first 3 days of the Tribulation, that is).

Hi iwonder,
It is doubtful that Camping would claim "progressive Christianity" is the cause for the destruction of the world.
Camping has distanced himself from the institutionalized Churches since his first prophecy in 1988.
I suspect Camping would identify "progressive Christianity" as being symptomatic of human sinfulness and not the source of human sinfulness. I suspect that a lot of "orthodox Christianity" would similarly be listed as symptoms of human sinfulness.
According to Camping there will now not be a defined "tribulation" such as we have become accustomed to seeing in most dispensationalist treatments. He now appears to be collapsing the rapture, tribulation and second coming all into a single day event scheduled for October 21, 2011.
I suspect October 21st will be as eventful as May 21st was.

You could make it sound even worse, you know. Dr. Rod Martin of University of Western Ontario, a humanist UU, is doing a session on humanism. Rev. Felicia Urbanski, a minister ordained UU and now in the United Church of Canada is doing another. OMGWTFBBQ, there's even a Buddhist monk. You can't get more progressive than this
Let's get real. October 21 is no more likely to be the Rapture than this past Saturday and the conference isn't likely to do any more to change that than Gretta Vosper being a UCCan minister in the first place. The Apocalypse is a wonderful bit of mythology and we should be concentrating on understanding the meaning and appeal of the myth instead of worrying whether it is real.

(But in the meantime, I hope that he gets Justice done...I've been reading some papers and he allegedly, when asked what of his followers who are now destitute, that they'll cope...I had a fun time discussing that with a JW earlier today)

Progressive Christianity will not cause the world to end, but it may cause conservative Christianity to end.
This might be what Harold Camping is afraid of.

When I saw the scheduled (and guaranteed by the bible) date for the end of the world and that it coincided with Widen the Embrace, I knew that my chances for getting parking close to the church just went up ten-fold!
