Hi all... just issuing an invite to anyone in Southern Ontario (or those who are longing for a wee cultural trip) that might want to come out to an art show. I'm the featured artist at the Victoria Park Gallery in Kincardine for the month of April. Hours of the gallery are Wed-Sat 11-5 and Sun 12-3.- address is 707 Queen Street.
I live a couple of hours away and so won't be there a lot but if I knew that folks (or even just folk) were interested, I'd plan on being there to say hi. If you don't know what I do and want to - a link to my glass blog is on my profile.

I'm definitely planning to check it out, Gaiagirl. It's a couple of hours from where I am too, but it will be a great excuse for a getaway to a few other places up there too that I'd like to vist.
I can only go on a weekday and thursdays are best for me. I'd be thrilled to meet up with you, or anyone else who might be going.
Maybe "do lunch"?
PS -- Your glass and paintings are awesome. I liked "Butterfly Girl" and that highly textured small green bowl, among others. Are you part of the local Studio Tour as well?

How fantastic that your art is being highlighted at a gallery next month gaiagrrl .... wish I lived closer. Or -- wish you were the featured artist in a gallery in the Vancouver area.

Well, let me know options re: weekday weekend (wkday noted ninja) and lets see if we can set something up... thursday isn't my best day but i could probably make it work (it's the only day when getting child care isn't easy...).
Lunch and art always make a good combo IMO....

Mondays and Fridays are possibilities too. That could work with a bit of juggling. I work Tues/Wed. though.
It would be so nice to have a Wondergathering!

I would so love to but the drive from Tenn. is too much. If I ever make the great white north there are so many people I'd love to see. Likewise, if anyone is ever in my neck of the woods, let me know.

Who me? In Kincardine? April 9th would definetly be out. As for April 23rd, I'll have to check with the boss.

Kim,
Your work is lovely-especially the birch trees in fall in both painting and glass.
Alas the trip is too far for me but I hope a wondergathering works!

So, the 23rd sounds like the better option... I'm thinking lunch and art? I know that I'd have to be on the road by 3:30 to pick up wee one from daycare...
Pass along the invite to any WCers that might be interested and I'll look into a place for lunch... and I'll check in again and see if there is anyone else up for it. And then I"ll wondermail everyone that's expressed interest with details... sound good?
Yay!

hey y'all,,, i found a great place for lunch .... It's called Bistro Watercress... funky atmosphere, healthy yummy food choices, emphasis on locally grown, not pricey, interesting... (still trying to entice others...come, come for yummy food...)
i'm thinking 12 or 11:30 - anyone that's in so far, how's that timing? (on the 23rd for anyone just catching up)... if you're sure (barring emergencies and acts of God), let me know and i'll start adding up the reservation...and i'll send out wmail with directions if needed....
***doin a happy dance*** i think this will be fun!

Depends (she says slyly) will you be coming for lunch on the 23rd? I think I could have a prototype by then.....
(or because I don't really want to coerce you, I could mail it to you... ) You mean the summer one, right?

Not that big. ....needs to last for Sundays in July / August....so approx 10 double sided would probably be good. What do you think?
For those who are wondering: I used "Sundays with Claudia" as an item for youth to do when they arrived at church in the summer. They were given their own with a name the first Sunday they show up, then, they leave it at the church for the next time they arrive. It was a real pleaser for parents and youth..and appealed to all ages.
I was thinking it would be wonderful to have that more often, and the awesome Gaia..went..hmmm....

I have to be in Hamilton at 3:30pm on Friday, April 23rd.

Tomorrow I'm heading off to Buffalo for a workshop with the Foundation for Commuity Encouragement (based on Scott Peck's work around defining what true community is and how to build community. He writes about it in The Different Drum: Community Making and Peace).
When I get back I will send out directions for everyone that's expressed interest and will probably just post them on this thread as well just in case there are late bloomers :)
I'm really looking forward to meeting all that can come and will join the pouting party to say HI later on Friday :) I'll take pics and post if people are agreeable. And if there are some that want to stay virtually annoymous, I'll bring cool masks.

Gaiagrrl,
I'm a fan of Scott Peck from way back.
Loved The Road Less Travelled and Further along the Road less Travelled.
(Thought the Children of the Lie was a wee bit loopy, though!)

So folks - for all interested parties (or all interested in a party :) Here is the official WC Arty Lunch Info for this Friday, April 23rd.
Here are the directions to get to the Watercress Bistro - reservation is for 11:45. I'm assuming that each of you can use Google Map to find the most direct way from your location to Kincardine but pretty much any way you come, you need to end up on Hwy 21 heading north to Kincardine (cause I don't think that anyone coming is from north of Kincardine other than me - I could be wrong)...
So if you are heading north on Hwy 21 - when the signs start saying Kincardine - look to turn LEFT onto Durham Street (there is a Best Western Hotel at the intersection). Take Durham to Queen St and turn LEFT onto Queen. The restaurant is #829 Queen Street and is at or right near the corner of Queen and Lambton Street. The gallery (Victoria Park Gallery) is just a couple blocks down the road on Queen...
From what I can gleam from the comments, I'm thinking that those coming are: Red Baron, Ninjafaery, Jae, Gecko and maybe Busymom ...oh, and me! Anyone I've missed, please let me know and I'll add to the lunch reservation...
I'm really looking forward to meeting you!
