I was wondering if anyone received any special Christmas blessings or gifts this year, and if so, please tell us about them.

This is my very first post so as you might guess, something very special prompted me to start it!
This year we were given the most wonderful Christmas present .... we were told that we are to become GRANDPARENTS for the very first time.
The last few years have been difficult for us, and this wonderful news is a ray of sunshine in the future. We feel truly blessed!
Now, off to Cosco to look at all those fabulous childrens books.

Merry Merry Christmas!!! nice news! I'm glad you're here to share it with us, Pommum!
We got a T-bone & a rental car for Christmas! Whoohoo! But we're all fine, it wasn't our fault, and we were 2 minutes from home. This morning, an old man (likely 80) drove right into us as we were turning left on an advance green. The poor guy got checked out for his heart and thankfully he is fine too. I feel bad for him- what a lousy thing to happen, BUT we're all ok. The family we were going to visit just came to our house instead, and it was a nice afternoon, so considering how bad days go, it was pretty good.

Congratulations on the wonderful news. I can't think of any more wonderful news than learning that you are going to be blessed with a grandchild. I have two - they are the joy of my life (and also the challange).
My blessing this year was to be able to spend Christmas with my daughter and her family in their new home, as she entertained both sets of grandparents and her husband's uncle and his family (12 in all around the diningroom table). Last year they were practically homeless, living in a cottage at the lake, while doing renovations on the house they had recently purchased that was in much worse shape than they had anticipated. Their decorations were somewhere in storage and they didn't even have a tree. This year the tree was beautiful, and the children so excited and happy. We were richly blessed.
For Family, friends, fellowship and food, we give thee thanks, our God. Amen

That's crappy, Birthstone but glad you're all OK.
My Christmas blessing this year was a gift that I was able to give myself. I have been holding onto something for six years, and I was finally able to let go. And it sure feels good!

Hi everyone - thanks for all the best wishes. Our son and daughter-in-law have been married for eight years so it was quite a surprise. All four future grandparents were together to hear the good news so it was quite an emotional evening.
Birthstone ... I am really glad that no one was hurt.

Hugs all around!!
What is weird: both sweetheart & I have been in car accidents before - my experience was years ago, when we got a simple rear-end by a guy in a paint truck (hate to see the inside of his truck!) It was no big deal, and so I compared this new experience to that. I have a sense that many people get into fender benders and it's just life.
My sweetie on the other hand had an awful accident 8 1/2 years ago, and it was much more than a fender bender. His reaction yesterday was that we had taken a hard hit and were very very lucky, and how awful that this had happened.
As we talked through the day, I realized how we were putting the same experience into very different contexts. We were both measuring it from opposite ends. I mentioned that to him and suddenly he calmed down and the tension drifted away.
So an amusing picture of human behaviour :)

Hmm, very interesting indeed. Human behaviour is fascinating. I could go all psycho-babble on you now, but don't want to bore you to death, so I shall refrain for the time being. I'll just quietlly ponder on my own.
