"Hi. Well that is the beauty of having faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, because it forms a bond between every believer, like as if we become brothers and sister in Christ. the church then becomes like an extended family. If one of us hurts, the others suffer with us. I dont know if this will ever happen with the whole universe, as some are very hostile towards the Word of God. God bless."

My highlights are based on gratitude.......
I discovered far, far more than an online community.
I rediscoverd my zest for life, my courage to visit a new country on my own, some wonderful folks, many of whom I now think of as friends.
Sheesh, I owe you folks plenty, and have done my best to both entertain you and hand on wisdom I've gained over the years.
Oh, and I now have a 50% share in the roofer, eh?
Thank you Wondercafe, thank you Canadia - oops I mean Canada...

Yes - if a fictitious character can be considered to be peeking in. I'm sure he will be mentioned from time to time.

I say he's fictitious. How can I believe in someone I've never seen - just because there have been a bunch of stories about him?

The various WonderGatherings, and all the threads they created, were memorable. Meeting some posters in the flesh, as well as reading about others' meetings (many of them involving our own Possum... excuse me, I meant Pilgrim) developed a sense of community.

It would be really funny if the roofer knew that he has been the center of attention for many years on this forum. I remember the codpieces, that was something.
Rather late but I just posted a new thread that I can smell ( and remember) from miles around on our Global Issues forum here. Its about "Poop in India"....not a joke, its for real. It has 100 lurkers already... so funny. WC is going out with not a whimper but a big bang!

Yes stardust, it looks like you are setting up to get a lifetime ban... dropping a big load of doodoo on the WC porch.
You used to be the one who started most of the conversations here. Of course that was when we fell in love, but managed to keep our romance secret. Then you had less time to keep this place going and crazyheart stepped up.
I wonder who in the end started the most conversations.
I didn't even start 2 pages of conversations.
How many do you two have?

Hi SNP
Crazyheart has posted a lot more topics than I have. I don't exactly excel in online discussions. I would post topics to keep the forum alive and running when it appeared to be slowing down. Sometimes I wouldn't get a single response but I usually had a big audience of lurkers.

The highlight of Wonder Cafe for me was a sad but very meaningful one. It was that a relationship forged in both agreement on some things and disagreement on others led to me being asked by chansen to conduct Carter's memorial service. That was both an honour and a privilege that I will never forget.

Because I came here several years in and was not yet very familiar with the current UCCan, only my parents' version, I didn't know what the broader vision was and I never saw it as an 'experiment' at all. It was an already established online forum, and compared to others, fairly open minded on terms of expressing ideas. We've had our ups and downs over the years I've been here, and regardless of whether I go over to WC2 or decide to focus my time and energy elsewhere, I hope WC2 works out well and continues on. This place has certainly been a go to place for me- when I'm happy, sad, bored, need to vent or express a new idea or ask a question- I'll even miss those who frustrate me from time to time. I carry you all with me in my thoughts everyday. It has challenged me and opened me up to new ideas- moreso than I get from the day to day conversations in real life. All the best to everyone!

Oh come on over and join the party, Kimmio. I didn't think I was gonna do WC2 either, but I did. And you know what I just found out? At WC2 you get trophies! I just got the "First Message Trophy." No word yet on whether there's a cash prize incuded - but how can you resist? Come on, Kimmio. Give in to temptation and join WC2.

Highlights for me include -
getting my name on the WonderFlag that was displayed at a UCCan event
sharing ideas about healthier, cheaper ways to eat
being connected to so many interesting people
experiencing the love of others as hearts and hassles and disasters and triumphs and joys were shared (especially thinking of Chansen and Carter as I type)
hearing the pain and dismay of members when the UCCan said they were abandoning this amazing bit of ministry
feeling awed when Chansen, Pinga and Mendallavolunteered to look at the options for a resurrection and have had success
the Wonder Choir
Wondertinis.
I think we will need a new project to talkabout on WC2 - maybe we could plan and build a Wonder Gazebo in the Wonder Garden. If we do it badly enough maybe Roofer will feelobligated to join us?

It would be difficult for me to pick a highlight.
This place grew on me.
It was in twists and turns a place of great joy and tremendous sorrow as well as a place where I could think hard and laugh harder.
I watched people try and succeed here and it was a thrill to witness that.
I also watched people try and fail here and it was painful to watch that.
I saw moments when I was tempted to think virtual community might be as good as the real thing and moments where I just about slapped myself for thinking such nonsense.
And as much as we have all been open and vulnerable with each other I realize for the most part we have only scratched the surface.
One of the more sobering things about WonderCafe.ca has been learning stuff about myself that I never spent much time examining before.
It has been a wild ride and I am the better for having had all of you to share it with me.
I'm not big on good-byes so I'm immensely thankful that WC2 is around and I do not have to say good bye.
WonderCafe.ca will close up shop and most of you will just be at another bookmark on my browser. And we'll see each other and converse with each other amidst a different colour scheme.
So it will be like moving from the dining room to the living room, we will settle in and make new memories together and share stories from our varied lives which bring tears of laughter and sorrow.
This isn't good bye, it is an "I'll meet you on the other side."
Grace and peace to you who take the plunge.
Grace and peace to you who have other places to be.
Grace and peace to all who have been a part of this place .
John

We have all changed in 7 years, some a little, some a lot, some not at all and I hope that some of the folk on the religion thread come over to WC2 . I wonder if we have made it clear to them that they are a part of this family
