Neato!

I do not do well with reptiles.  They are fine to look at, but I get creeped out at touching them.  I did hold a snake once!  I kinda thought I should prove my manliness -- the nervous girly giggles didn't really help...

I didn't actually say what he was in the OP because I didn't want people to be frightend away before they saw how cute he is :3 (he's about 2feet long atm, 1 year old, still just a baby :D)

Kafka looks like he has a bump in in his belly in the one pic.  Did he just eat?

Haha. It looks like Kafka is smiling in the second picture. Was he named after the author?

Aw man, Sebb...I clicked off as quickly as I could but still got a quick flash.  I'm sure he's a great pet but something's come up and I have to quickly run away

@Ninja: No, I haven't fed him yet (I'll first try to feed him this weekend) I think that whatlooks like a bump is just from the way I took the photo : \

@ConsumingFire: Yeah, Franz K is one of my fave authors ^_^

@ABPenny: rofl, come back, he wont bite D: (I suppose I would be the same way if somebody wanted me to handle their pet black widow (they sold them at a petstore I used to go to, I don't know who'd by one lol) but I might be alright if it was a tarantula (the sleek, skinny ones scare my pants off but the fuzzyness of tarantulas helps I guess lol))

Hmmm ...I'm not a snake fan Sebb ... I like my pets warm, furry, and cuddly ... fish don't really do it for me either!

How big do you expect it to grow?  My brother-in-law, who did his master's degree in  herpetology, had a pet python - not sure exactly what kind.  It grew to be well over 8 feet long.  After he married my husband's sister, he & the snake had to part ways.  He donated it to the Toronto Zoo.  They sent two young women students,  to pick it up, but he wasn't home when they arrived  ... well, they freaked out when they actually saw it!!  His mom had to get it out of its habitat & put it into the cloth bag for transport.  I bet those two broke all the speed limits getting back to the zoo!!   We used to go to the zoo to visit it for a couple of years ... his name was Snaff.

My barber was telling me that a female friend of his used to have a snake -- a boa constrictor, I think.  She grew really close to it and really loved it.

It lived in a terrarium or whatever in an office-like room.  At night, she'd leave the lid open, but close the door, so that the snake could get out and relax.  One night, she left the door open by accident -- or something like that -- and the snake made its way to her room and slithered into bed with her and laid against her.

She thought it was cute -- that the snake had become so attached to her.  So she left the door open every night and the snake would join her in bed, every night, stretched out to full length, lying beside her.

Then she found out that boa constrictors measure the size of potential prey by stretching their bodies out next to the prey.  Never again was the door left open.

That's sad...... love me ..... love my pets

How boas measure their prey ....

That reminds me of a story i heard in a movie

Once upon a time, a woman was picking up firewood. She came upon a poisonous snake frozen in the snow. She took the snake home and nursed it back to health. One day the snake bit her on the cheek. As she lay dying, she asked the snake, "Why have you done this to me?" And the snake answered, "Look, bitch, you knew I was a snake."

Not a huge fan of snakes either Sebb but I think it's really cool having a none traditional pet. Any kind of truth in the measure for size story? I'm also curious if snakes recogise people, will he know who you are compared to a visitor?

It's late so I'll reply to each of you individually tomorrow after school :P

But as for the length thing, he's about 2feet now and will grow to about 4 feet (females grow a bit larger, like between 4-5feet)
