No, I'm not bringing Tom Cruise on to WC2 (the publicity wouldn't hurt, but the jumping on the Wondercouch would be a nuisance). We need to talk about the mission of our new site.
In our last meeting, the Three Musketeers of WC2 (Pinga, chansen, and I) discussed the need for a mission statement. This needs to be presented to the UCCan as part of our planning for them to provide links to, and other support for, the new independent site. Using the current Wondercafe Mission Statement as a base, we came up with the following:
We are presenting this to you for discussion. What do you think our mission statement should say? Changes? Corrections? Want to present one of your own?
Keep in mind that a Mission Statement needs to be a short (a sentence or two), broad statement of why Wondercafe2 exists and what it is for. Details come out in policies, goals, etc. that come under the umbrella created by the mission statement.
We will leave this discussion open until Monday, April 7, then review it and develop a final draft that we will put to a vote next week.

Those are good qwerty. I like almost all of them. I think for WC2, I'd pick "real spirit in a virtual community".

I think the last clause was redundant. The above should be enough.

hah, hadn't noticed we put open-minded in their twice.

Thanks for catching that, Arm. Unless there are other changes, I think we will use your version. More succinct, too, once the redundancy is gone.

Reviewing the thread, I want to recant my use of "three amigos" where others used "three muskateers". The latter has strong positve connotations and the former is just silly.

How about the three tenors. Is that you Pinga- a tenor?
Pinga
Posted on: 04/05/2014 13:08
I have sang with the tenors...though a woman's voice has a different timbre and I would normally be classified as an alto.
of course you have heard of the story of what if the three wise men were three wise women.

I'm a baritone of the "flee, flee immediately if you value your sanity" variety. I love music but can't sing to save my soul.

Back to Qwerty's link. Qwerty, I really think that could be a poem. would be interested in seeing you work it.
I like this line...it holds true for me"... real spirit in a virtual community"
(I also am a big fan of the use of ellipsis)

Julie Andrews and I think these suggestions are supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. A few of them could be used.

Just a quick update. Life intervened so I have not had time to completely review the thread and prepare a final draft. I'll shoot for doing it on my lunch hour today, after which there will be a vote on that final text. So, you still have until noon to review the draft text in my OP and get suggestions in.
